I love the painting, and the... other painting? above.
I am not fond of autumn. It's a harbinger of the winter and winter hurts. It's not autumn;s fault. Autumn is beautiful in new england (or course) and it smells like the best instants of childhood... of the edge of danger and safety... but. Alas, I only hate the fall for the most part because once the days are done where it's too cold to not wear sweaters but too hot to not sweat like a gyser in my sweater (and I'm not usually a sweat-er - only in the fall) once that's done I am just cold, just cold and hating the threat of car crashes on ice and all the darkness....
The other painting, in greens, with the cirlce(?) is actually a little handmade book that I haven't finished yet. I understand what you mean about Auturm being the harbinger of winter. My favorite season is summer - swimming, blackberry picking, floating on the lake. I don't like the cold of fall and winter, although right now it's 66 degrees and it's been in the 70s all week. I also like it when it stays light until 9 or 10 p.m., and already it gets dark here so early. We haven't had rain in a while and I know we need it. I do like the rain.
Growing up in St. Paul, I was always all about the Spring. Everybody's storm windows suddenly open, you can hear sounds of nature and people from inside, and when outside you can finally feel the previously frozen ground, now soft beneath your feet. Ahhh. But yeah, summer is probably my favorite season now. I'm still here in Sunnyvale, Santa Clara County (aka South Bay, aka Silicon Valley). I suppose one of my favorite things about autumn is harvesting the small grapevine next to my driveway (an oddity which was here when I bought the house). I love the taste of my very own Concord grapes. And knowing that I don't have to face Minnesota winters any more.
Aw, fresh fruit from the yard would be so lovely. I grew tomatoes for a while and that was such a joy in summer. We have terrible smoke in the air here due to the wildfires across the mountains, so I have to keep the doors and windows closed for Mr. HighCountry. Actually, I should be just as concerned for my own health I suppose.
