I recently bought my first ever (!) package of charcoal. Yup, I'm 21 years old and I didn't even know how exactly charcoal looked. We probably had the worst art teachers at school. When I think about it, we had indeed...
Anyway, as I was curiously eyeing said package, I decided 'to hell with everything I should be doing' and started drawing.
First drawing: The Doctor (from the Girl in the Fireplace)
After this one I feared to be completely untalented. It just doesn't seem right. I reworked and reworked parts of it until I finally gave up after 2 hours in the middle of the night when I looked like a piece of charcoal myself.
Still, the speed of the drawing process(if it weren't for endless reworks) and the general difference of it convinced me to give it a second try. After all, it's been a long time since I finished anything (my latest unfinished attempt was from December 2005).
Second drawing: Rose (promo image from series 2)
This was done much quicker (and was also far less messy *g*). I like it much better than the first one. Now I need something to work out how to shade more convincingly...
On a sidenote, I finally wrote a bio for my User Info. Took me long enough. :p
Edit: Almost forgot: A happy New Year to everyone! May you all have arrived undamaged and prepared for another year!
