A question for you geeks out there

I think I need a new ADSL doodah. The reason for this is that I have a Draytek Vigor 2800, which although it's rather a nice router that has all the toys I need, it doesn't actually work. It contains the Texas Instruments AR7 ADSL chip which is a pile of poo. I had already worked this out myself as the thing kept dropping the connection. ( Read more... )

I think I'm wanting a mini-ITX computer with good integrated ADSL and wireless networking: it would be good to do firewalling, VPN, mail relaying and a few similar things in something that wasn't my main server.

I'd also quite like something powerful enough to run this plus a data logger for unauthenticated users of my wireless access point. (-8

I've got a mini-ITX that I'm thinking of retiring at some point, if I can work out how to transfer all my server stuff over :-)

Oh - and most Cisco gear can be rack-mounted facing in either direction. In which case the question becomes why the status lights are on the back. (-8

and the power cable would be in the front as well. I can cope with that being up the bot though

It's quite simple really, the patch bay and gigabit switch were designed by women and the rackmountable ADSL was designed by a man :P lol.
