I caught a horrendous cold, after quite a long streak of good health. I have had it for about a week now, and my throat is finally not sore anymore, but the others symptoms are pretty bothersome. I wish it would go away

Give her another chance but watch her vigilantly. Anyone can make one mistake, but two is a worrying trend :P.

Socializing Dogs: Have a lot of different people bring her food, with you closely managing her behavior. Correct her if she barks or growls. She should display "submissive dog" behavior.

After a couple dozen people, she'll realize:
Mom + Stranger = Food = Good.
Sometimes this also means:
Mom - Stranger = Bark

Training Dogs is like training people. Run them through the exercise enough times with successful results, and they'll get it.
