Greetings from Costa Rica!!! I figured the only way I'm going to get an account of my trip out there is if I do it piecemeal. And since I'm still functioning at two hours earlier than the rest of the country, I'm going to do it this morning while my friend/co-worker/hostess is still getting up and making a big traditional Costa Rican breakfast ( Read more... )

Yup, M is here for the vacation part of the trip. Milo is staying on a farm w/ a dog-sitter (woman I work w/) and Willow is holding down the fort w/ visits from another woman I work w/.

Was super duper excited about the macaw. That was worth the price of admission, yo!

POISON TREE FROG!

BRING ME BACK A JFC LIZARD. I AM SURE THEY WILL LET YOU THROUGH CUSTOMS IF YOU SHOVE IT DOWN YOUR PANTS.

LOL, we were talking about smugglers at lunch, as CD and I work on several projects against smuggling and on taking care of the confiscated animals. One of the Mexican doctors told us about seeing a guy get caught at the airport who had monkeys in his jacket, hanging off his shoulders. Those poor monkeys! And I have heard of the macaw down the pants before. I bet the lizard would be easier, if you sedated it first. I can give you the pic of the female and the pic of the male, and then you can pretend that they have babies!

LOL, every time you said "howler monkey," I "heard" it in Zachariah's voice. XD

Wow, such lovely, lovely photographs and I'm glad you're having an awesome time. Are there more pics of the Irazu Volcano? I have a thing for volcanoes and those photographs are GORGEOUS, beautifully-colored toxic lagoons and all. :)

. . . did you ever find out which volcano erupted while you were standing there?

Mauricio told us the name of the other volcano, but I forget what it was. Er. And M took a lot more of the volcano. I'll get her pics eventually and can send you volcano pics! Perhaps to use as inspiration...

I'll probably be doing waterfall garden pics tomorrow night! Looking forward to going there. The monkeys were a lot of fun. Maybe there'll be monkeys at La Paz tomorrow...
