The irony is that 1937 was also the height of Stalin's terror, when thousands were sent into the gulag or shot. So, at the same time that that was happening, art like this was produced, giving the impression that life in the Soviet Union was just humming along nicely-or it can be seen as evidence that daily life was largely unaffected by the terror, as some revisionist historians have written.

Yes. There are always 2 sides to history. In hindsight, everything is clearer.
