From fridayfiver

1. At the end of today, do you think you'll feel spent or refreshed?
Spent. It's been a long day already and I didn't sleep well. I won't do a thing tonight.

2. Do you like back rubs?
I do if they know what they're doing which isn't always the case.

3. When did you last mislead someone?I'm not in the business of misleading people. I value ( Read more... )

I love "The Sheltering Sky" too. But recommending food (or fun things to do, for that matter) on deathbed? I won't be in such good humor. I'd be in a bad mood.

Hah, yes, it's a bit odd, but I thought I'd play along. So here's the age-old question: What do you think is next? I already know you don't think it's reincarnation. ;)

"Next" meaning after death? I don't know. I'm not unhappy to be gone. I see individual lives as clusters of consciousness which in death become dispersed, reshuffled, reclustered. (That's a little like reincarnation?) But the "background" I see as timeless. Strangely, I sort of believe--believe is not quite the word, but I have a sense of its reality--in this timelessness. So we will just be shot out of time, just as, when we were born, we were "funneled" into time. Yeah, that's my current view of the universe and how it works... :)

Interesting, thanks for answering that. I know these things are personal and many people don't like to discuss their views. I'm not one of them - but then, I like to discuss pretty much anything, hehe. It's another thing that makes me feel out of place here, btw. America isn't the kind of place where friendly discussions are valued and critical thinking is happening in a daily life kind of way as it does in Europe. People don't seem to be able to agree to disagree and not take it personal, even after a heated discussion. I often find that irritating because, as a result, they do all this empty small-talk instead...
Anyway, I can relate to what you said about how the "background" remaining. It's one of the central themes in my own ideas. Some kind of eternal circle, the "background" like a stage.

Thank you, much appreciated. I've been hanging out at home, just don't feel like going anywhere with what's going on on the other side of the pond. I hope you're having a good weekend. :)

I only saw the movie w/Contact but it impressed me. Most people seem to hate it which makes me seriously question their ability to think but hey, what's new?

*Chuckle... I had a discussion about that movie recently, with someone who hated it because they decided it somehow interfered with their religious beliefs. Alrighty then...

I like "Contact" a lot. Anything that makes you think is good.
