it sounds like there might be a problem with the power supply, which is surprisingly cheap and easy to replace. i've replaced power supplies on two of my computers and not paid more than $35 or $40. replacing it is a matter of unscrewing a few screws, unplugging the power supply, and putting a new one in.
of course, if it's not that, it could be literally anything, especially if you're using windoesn't...
Well, I didn't count the beeps... there were a lot of them. It just happened 4 times in a row where I had to push the power button and turn the comp. off and on repeatedly until the 5th time it actually came on.
