I think so. He's the skinny black guy. I'd prefer not to say his name on my LJ, though. Libel and all.

There's only two black guys who work at my store. The one with the skullcap and glasses, and the skinny guy with dreds.

So I think we're talking about the same one, yes.

I think in the entire time I've been working in an office setting, I had something like that happen once. It was a lab assistant back at WinMag -- someone who was escorted out of the building in the middle of the day, and whose departure was noted only by the XO of the mag in the tersest of e-mails.

Yeah. I hate how everyone pretends that it didn't happen, and no one talks about it or him EVER again. I can't stand that... I can't be fake, and I can't stand it when other people are being fake with me or with each other. :/ but we live in a fake world, huh? Where people ask how your day is, but most don't really want the truth--just a "fine, and you?" response. It's why I hate working retail, even if it IS a comic book store.

wage slavery sSUCKS! and this is exactly the reason why...

it's one of the primary reasons why i no longer work for other people, but am self-employed. 8(

I wish I could be self employed actually, but I don't have the business sense (or the desire to learn business sense) to do that sort of thing. I'd have to team up with one or more people to do it, but it'd be worth it if I could figure out how to pull that off.

Stuff like this is why I'm glad I work for the state even though they pay somewhat less than the private sector.

By law I cannot be summarily fired. There has to be an investigation process and hearing.

Really? If that's the case, I really want to work for the state now. I'm gonna want a secure job after I graduate :/
