Hello my friends, hello. [/neil diamond] I have been meaning to post forever. Let's go with some bullet points to get the party started.

I saw the top of a crocus peeking out of the ground earlier this week. Spring is on its way, even here in New England.

Wow, 50k miles? My car is a 1998 (I bought it in 2000) and it has almost 100k. And I thought that was low. You must be really smart with your use of alternative transit options.

No, I just don't really go anywhere. ;)

Actually, thinking about it, most of the things I do - shopping, work, outings, etc - are within a 25 mile radius. Probably the longest road trip I take on a regular basis is about 150 miles round trip, and I do that at most twice a month.

It's a good car - a Honda Civic.

I think I am on the verge of becoming a Lilo stan over at ONTD. It's hard to watch all the people posting nasty comments about her, but I know that my own positive comments would be read as trolling. So I don't reply. That community has such groupthink: it's part of what can make it fun, and also what makes it depressing at other times. I don't think Lindsay is perfect by any means, but I don't understand the joy people take in constantly criticizing her, or any other famous person.

I periodically think about quitting the gossip sites b/c the groupthink can be so mean sometimes. These are still people -- not rocks or monsters -- and some seem to take such joy in being absolutely nasty about them (Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Simpson really get it). But, then, I don't...

And wahat does Stan mean?

Hello Emily! It's so good to see you back posting. :)

I know what you mean about the gossip sites. I also suspect that many if not most of the posters are women, and it's interesting and sad to see such vitriol hurled at other women.

Stan is the name of a song by Eminem, about an obsessive fan. I don't know how it became a name for any overzealous fan in general, but that's where it originated. You'll see people on ONTD at least talking about the "stans" posting on some threads. urbandictionary explains it all.
