There are many things in life that change our paradigm, the way we see and live life.  On a national level the attacks of 9-11 changed our way of seeing things drastically.  On a personal level my paradigm shift occurred a year ago today when Gretchen almost died right in front of me in a hospital room.

I should have made them get a Doctor, and not accepted the nurses explanations

How very, very true that is. It's sad that often we have to stand up and demand that our health needs not be ignored. What a terrible tragedy it could have been for you.

It totally changed the way we both thought about things, like priorities. We worry less about things, because in contrast to death everything is a small thing :0)

I have had nightmares about that day, and I sometimes panic when Gretchen falls asleep watching TV, until I see her breathing.

I am thankful for every minute!

John, this is just the perfect example of how no one should ever be left alone at a hospital.

I can't believe it's been a year since then. I'm glad Gretchen is doing well now!

It seems to go faster the older I get, which means I should stop and just "Be in the moment" more.
