4 years of sobriety

Usually I have posted on the anniversary of my first day of sobriety December 13, 2004.

Today I will post on the anniversary of the last day I was drunk, December 12, 2004.  I had attended a Christmas party at a neighborhood bar.  I must have put in a good 8-10 hours there.  The party started in the afternoon and there was food, so I had no reason ( Read more... )

Yet again you share with joy and dignity of your dark journey, and I love you all the more for your honesty. I think you are just beautiful.

I never began to understand the alcoholic committed pursuit of drink until I watched Leaving Las Vegas. Now I know, I am so glad you have thrown off those horrific ...shackles. Keep up the fight, John, you prove every day that it is worth the battle, huh.

Thanks for sharing your story, and your goals. Stay in the Light! Hold fast to it. For you and for Gretchen, huh.

I tend to catch up with you in spurts and am always so glad when I do because your blog is so very heartfelt and genuine. Your spirit stretches all the way to Texas, John! It's like a great big hug! You'll be a fantastic therapist.
