Summary: She is deeply strange and strangely deep. She looks in the void and the void blinks first. This is how Jillian Holtzman makes herself.
Rec Notes: This is BRILLIANT. It's not only so perfectly Holtzmann (there will be more than one fanon interpretation of Holtmann, there always is, but I really love this one) but the reflections of the other characters through her POV are also truly excellent.

Relationships: Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter
Characters: Mrs. Komeda (Hannibal)
Additional Tags: Post-TWOTL, s4, brief discussion of violence
Summary: Mrs. Komeda gives a candid interview about what she thinks happened to The Murder husbands. She's never been afraid to talk about someone behind their backs and she won't start now. Set post-TWOTL
Rec Notes: This Mrs. Komeda is fabulous - "going incognito" in an "anonymous town" but, as she says, to get away from Boston, not particularly because she's concerned with what's come to light of Hannibal Lecter's activities. I love that she's not performing guilt despite the social pressure to do so and indeed even the conversational lead in that direction. What really makes the fic though is the ambiguity (and truth) of the ending and her last statement in particular. [There is also a
podfic by Caveat_Lector available.]

Relationships: Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter
Characters: Will Graham, Hannibal Lecter
Excerpt: Given the number of degrees, diplomas and doctoral qualifications between the two of them, Will reckons it took a worrying amount of time for them to make the connection between intimate living and, well, sexual intimacy.
Rec Notes: This is a hilarious and sharply perceptive Will POV post-TWOTL. Of course, he still manages to be the one who sees everything while missing the obvious.

Rec Notes: Sweet and very in character with a whole rabbit warren full of names. Hilariously, my hindbrain is still going THIS IS NOT A SUSTAINABLE POPULATION MODEL, but it's adorable nonetheless. :P

HomeSummary: It's hard not to compare sometimes, and it's probably not fair, but Waverly can't help it. Or, five times Waverly compares Champ and Nicole and one time she doesn't.
Rec Notes: Yes, this. Just yes. *heart eyes* This is about Waverly and Nicole getting together and building a life together in 6 scenes and it is seriously heart melting.

Relationships: Peter Parker/Johnny Storm
Characters: Peter Parker, Johnny Storm
Summary:
He was exhausted, tired enough not to realize anything was out of place at first. Dark room, cool sheets, warm body. It seemed natural to fit himself against his partner’s sleeping form, to pull them closer, his hand fitted to their naked hip. They sighed, on the edge of waking, and he made a soft noise: don’t bother, it’s just me.
The cagey feeling in his chest settled. It felt right to be here.
Then Peter remembered he wasn’t seeing anyone, definitely not anyone this toned or muscled, and his eyes flew open.

Three times Johnny Storm ended up in Peter Parker's bed.
Rec Notes: I love this, especially the first two times. The humor and comfort (and hurt/comfort) are very pleasing.

Merlin worksSummary: Morgana turned away from the high, barred window and rubbed her arms, chilled and bare. Arthur was sitting in the dirty straw at the very limit of his chains, which kept him a few inches too far away to touch Merlin's limp body. Outside they were putting up the stake.
Rec Notes: Arthur, Merlin, Morgana, and Gwen all flee from Camelot. Surviving escape is enough of a challenge let alone finding safe haven - and "safe" is a relative term. I really enjoyed it and the very end was an unexpected good note.

Summary:
Charles, a miner from a poor village in the countryside, saves the life of Erik Lehnsherr, scion of a successful business family and the richest man on the planet Eisen. Charles is a telepath and somewhat anxious about it, while Erik abstains from relationships because the lights flicker and doors open and electronics vibrate when he gets too excited. Also featuring a long-suffering sister, a foul-mouthed bodyguard, and a best friend with a heart that is definitely not gold.
In which there are princes, spaceships, long journeys, and old secrets uncovered. (An AU sci-fi fairytale)
Rec Notes: Despite having had this bookmarked for years and seeing multiple recs for it, I just hadn't gotten around to actually reading this fic until someone recently recced it on Twitter as one of their all time favorites. Which was about the time my brain finally connected that it was written by an author that has written several fics that I really enjoy (eg.
Hide of Life War and
Guard Them, And Him Within) so it would probably be worth the effort to check out. Having finally read it, I can say it's well worth the recs its received - the world building is fascinating and it's a really enjoyable read.

Summary: "That's your punishment... You live."
Rec Notes: I got to the end of this and realized I had started holding my breath at some point in the middle. As a non-vidder I'm not sure the terms to describe this vid, but even if I tried it would sound like a surefire mess. It ends up being anything but. This is the Doctor's loneliness and isolation and anger and his touch of madness as he survives everything. It conveys the message very well, but it's also beautifully done and is well worth watching.
[Soldier Laundry in WWII] by
thewinterotterLength: 1267 words
Related Fandom: Avengers, Captain America
Excerpt: shetan89 asked: Research for a fic - how would Bucky have washed his uniform? Considering Bucky was an advance scout and often did the 'dirty work' - sneaking in and slitting throats - i imagine he was often covered in blood and other unsavory fluids. When hiking through bombed out cities and woods for long periods of time, i don't think they would always be able to find a stream, especially in winter. Was there laundry services at camp? Basically, how and where did they do laundry?
Rec Notes: This is really interesting information with a few bonus links, but the kicker is the last bit at the end which made me laugh. Sometimes you just gotta lose your mind in a little way to keep yourself sane.
