At first Kame couldn’t make out where he was or what was happening. Somewhere around him he heard voices and when he came to he found himself on a chair, still dressed in his suit.
“You freaking stole him from court!” Ohno argued somewhere in the room.
“What? No one saw me do anything to him! Masa and that lawyer weren’t even there! As far as everyone’s considered I simply took him outside for air!” he heard Jin reply in that familiar defensive tone Jin used when he was cornered by people accusing him of something he had definitely done but refused to admit.
“…And then you packed him into your car.” Yamapi added.
“I’m kind of frustrated you guys ain’t giving us any part to play in this!” Ryo butted into the conversation.
“Our plan, our players.” Ohno replied simply.
“That’s still unfair!” Ryo argued on and Kame groaned as he opened his eyes slowly. There were candles and flashlights everywhere, lighting up the room he recognized immediately. Some of the gangsters were going through his suitcases, spreading out his files.
“Ah, finally~” Matsumoto said, crooking down before him and studied his face. “You’re awake. We’ve been waiting.”
Kame let his gaze travel around in Jin’s apartment. The living room was packed with Jin’s own gang, News, Kanjani8 and Arashi.
“This was a bad move.” he said, finding Jin from the crowd. “What do you expect to gain out of this? Do you really think you can keep me here?”
“I don’t see any of his men here.” Matsumoto shrugged and Kame returned his gaze at said gangster, who playfully pushed his glasses further up his nose.
“True, but then again you never saw how Tsuyoshi was giving Johnny information about you behind your backs either.” Kame replied. “Trust me, I’ll get out of here soon enough. You don’t know what you’re up against.”
“We’ve known Johnny and Masa for much longer than you, pretty.” Subaru pointed out.
“Yet you’ve never managed to take them down.” Kame said. “Do you want to know why? Because you’re overly confident in yourselves and the way you do things, which will never lead you to the core of Johnny Kitagawa. He knows your style and your pride as gangsters. That’s why he’s never completely lost to you no matter what you’ve done.”
“There’s always a first time.” Kusano grinned at him.
Kame sighed, leaning back into the chair. “So, what are you planning on doing with me?”
Jin could think of a few things he’d want to and one he hadn’t ruled out yet was spanking.
“Try to squeeze out information out of me? Torture me?” Kame guessed. “Or continue to beg me to change sides?”
Jin felt Kame’s eyes linger on his at that point.
“That’s not going to happen.” Kame assured. “You shouldn’t have taken me here. Didn’t you learn already once that it’s not a wise idea to let me in too close?”
“Didn’t you learn what happens to squealers?” Sho retorted. “We once almost lectured your stubborn ass in prison. Imagine what we’ll do to those who betray us.”
“I remember.” Kame replied, somehow not afraid the same would happen to him this time.
“You’ve got quite the guts squealing on us knowing that.” Yoko and Hina gritted out between their teeth. “You know, we always supported you two!”
Kame laid his eyes back onto the one of the two that Yoko and Hina had just referred to.
“I always knew our paths would cross again. It was inevitable really in this line of business.” Kame said, never getting a reply from Jin as Ryo opened his mouth again.
“Why don’t you just snap out of it, Kame-chan!” the gangster practically exploded, out of patience. “We’re tired of you playing bad boy! We know you’re not like them, so just fess up so we can put an end to this!”
“As long as you’re inside our blocks no Kitagawa troops can save you.” Aiba said.
“We won’t let you out of here until you’ve come to your senses again.” Jin added.
“Still believe I’m doing this under pressure?” Kame asked, focusing his attention on Jin again. “I left you because he offered me everything back: my life, my family, school, everything. I don’t like your ways of doing things or your blocks and I’ll never live like that. Get it into your head.”
“So you prefer to live like Masa and Johnny?” Massu concluded. “You like their ways of doing things?”
“The one thing life with you taught me was that there is no such thing as fair.” Kame said. “It was hard to accept at first, but as I saw no other way I had to. I’d rather live unfairly where I belong and it is not in these blocks.”
Kame-chan was targeting Jin on purpose, Yamapi noticed quite fast. He knew why, but he also knew what it was doing to Jin to hear all of this.
“So don’t tell me what I should or shouldn’t be doing. Not while knowing everything you’ve done yourselves! You’re in no position to be lecturing me.” Kame continued. “Allow me to give you some advice instead. Get out while you still can. If you want to save yourselves then I suggest you all run off to South Korea, because I will get out of here and when I do I will help Masa put every last one of you behind bars.” he said, adding as he turned towards Jin again, “You’re no exception.”
“Kame-chan!”
“That’s pushing it too far!” Matsumoto exploded in turn.
“Where’s the naïve and gullible turtle we all knew?” Kusano wailed.
“He’s been brainwashed by Masa and Johnny.” Massu muttered.
“Then let’s take him into the bathroom and wash him ourselves!” Kusano suggested.
“Yeah!” Yoko agreed. “If he’d squeal on us he’ll sure as hell squeal on them! Let’s get even!”
Kame-chan had quite easily put the entire room into chaos, Yamapi noted. He needed to get Jin aside and say a few words to him, because they were getting nowhere like this. They needed to get Kame to drop his facade and there was only one person, who could make that happen.
“Jin, a word.” Yamapi said, leaning into Jin, who met his eyes before disappearing for a while, returning with something in his hands.
Kame eyed the leader warily as he approached, but didn’t resist as Jin took his wrist, cuffing it and then letting it go.
Kame lifted his wrist, studying the cuff and the chain that was connected to it. “This is so like you.”
“It’s not just any form of bondage.” Jin informed him. “It’s got a bug. You won’t be running off on me even if you get the chain loose from the bed.”
“The bed?” Kame repeated and Jin’s lips formed a pleased smile.
“Yes, I remember you saying something about shared body heat.” the leader reminded him. “I think you’ll come to need it too, since it gets quite cold in here during the nights.”
“I see…” Kame replied dryly and Jin turned back towards Yamapi.
“Now then, what did you want to talk about?” the still pleased leader asked and Yamapi nodded for him to follow him, not expecting the other gangsters to do the same as they were all curious in knowing what the well-known manipulator had in mind and most of them had some advice of their own they felt like sharing.
“This isn’t working.” Yamapi stated when they had gathered in the next apartment of Jin’s many apartments.
“I agree! We need to put more pressure on him.” Koyama said. “I don’t like it, but it’s Kame-chan we’re talking about here. Under all of that it’s still our cute and naive Kame-chan. We can break him.”
“He was never as defenceless as we thought.” Koki said. “When he wanted to do something…damn, nothing could stop him.”
“But this cold-hearted person is not him!” Massu insisted. “A person can’t change that radically his or her entire personality! It’s got to be an act! And a year isn’t long enough time to master such a performance. If we come at him hard enough-”
“You’re not doing anything to him.” Jin cut in. “He’s mine. No one goes near him.”
“You see, that’s just where he gets off easy.” Yamapi said. “You’re protecting him from us and he knows that. He knows you won’t let us do whatever we want to get him to spill the beans. He’s as safe here with you as he’d be in Johnny Kitagawa’s building!”
“I will make him talk.” Jin insisted.
“The way you are now you won’t make him do anything. You think he’s giving into you when he responds to your advances, but he’s just playing your game.” Yamapi continued. “He’s doing exactly what he’s seen you do all along. You may never have noticed it, but he’s always studied you. Now he’s acting it out in his own way. Don’t get yourself into a knot because of a few flirty words or a bit of skin! He knows your weaknesses! He’s using it to his advantage! He knows it’s him you’re weak for!”
“Shut up, I’ve got it under control!” Jin snapped.
“You don’t have any control right now.” Yamapi replied. “If you don’t get your act together you’ll create a way out of here for him…again. That’s what he wants right now. Out. He wants back to the part of this city he dominates. He’s outnumbered and at a disadvantage right now. He’ll use anything in his power to change that and you can’t even see that you’re the one in chains!”
“I said shut your mouth! I get the situation!” Jin argued back.
“No, you don’t!” Yamapi insisted. “He’s targeting you. You can’t be there. We can break him if you’re not there. You’d try to stop us and he knows it. You’d never let anyone else as much as lay a finger on him. He controls you now, but he doesn’t control us.”
“I’m not stepping aside.” Jin replied, voice relaying how this wasn’t going to be discussed anymore. “I’ll call Masa. As long as we hold Kame they might freak out and make a wrong move. In the very least I’ll get us our power, heat and water back.”
Yamapi held back a frustrated groan as Jin left them, dialling a number on his phone.
“Shinozaki Masa.”
“Good evening.” Jin said in a rather smug tone. “You will never guess who I found in my apartment tonight. You’re probably worried about your kouhai going missing, but rest assure he’s safe now and he won’t be disappearing anytime soon.”
“An interesting move at this critical time in your case.” Masa replied. “But so very like you.”
“If I were you I’d consider removing Kame from my list of contacts.” Jin said. “He’s going to talk. He’ll tell us everything about you. You were pretty stupid for taking in someone who was with us for so long.”
“And you’re pretty stupid for sacrificing everything for a boy, who dumped you after a series of ups and downs.” Masa said.
“Yeah, there were ups and downs…and ins and outs.” Jin shot back. “You should’ve seen him the night before he left me. Even you can’t deny there’s still something between us and there always will be. You can’t erase what we had, you know it, so you try to use it against us instead. But you’re relying too much on the fact that I’ll play by the rules you so carefully taught Kame so that he could tie me around his pretty little fingers. I wonder how he will see things should he actually slip all the way with me.”
“Shouldn’t you be the one to worry about that instead? After all, weren’t you the one, who was defeated in between his thighs? You happily sung like a bird and he wrote down your music and gave it to me.” Masa replied. “So everything seems to have worked out well so far.”
“You think?” Jin asked with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. It didn’t look like that from where he was standing only a small distance away from Masa’s new colleague. “Now that we’re on the topic you could show us the courtesy of turning on the heat, water and electricity for us, seeing as we have such a valuable guest staying with us. Otherwise…I might feel obligated to find other ways to keep him warm and satisfied.”
“I see your point.” Masa replied. “Is there anything else you want?”
“Well, you could always shut down the entire agency, lose the trial and have Johnny Kitagawa confess in public for everything he’s done.” Jin said and Masa laughed on the other end.
“I don’t think so.” the detective said. “And I don’t need to tell you what you’re doing is highly illegal. Because of this stunt we could make you the most wanted man in the whole of Japan.”
“I already am, just not in the way you hinted.” Jin replied. “You won’t be able to bargain or threaten Kame from us. Whatever you try to do, I’m not giving him up. I don’t care if we lose the case because of it.”
“Dedicated, aren’t you? Well then, will you say hello to him from me?” Masa said. “Oh and inform him that tomorrow’s trial has been postponed until further notice.”
“Really?” Jin asked dryly.
“Yes.” Masa replied. “Or it will be as soon as I make one phone call.”
“Buying time to get your lawyer-in-training back?”
“He’d be pretty disappointed to miss even one session. It’s the least I can do for him.” Masa said. “Have fun with him for as long as you can. Good night.”
The detective hung up.
Jin was a little bothered by how well Masa was taking this. Masa really didn’t seem worried at all about something happening between him and Kame, just like Kame had said.
The lights flickered and turned on.
“Akanishi, the water works again!” Maru’s joyful voice came from the other room.
“The heat too!” Junno added.
“That’s great. I think we all need a long hot shower.” Jin said as he entered the room again.
“Don’t you mean a cold one?” Kusano teased under his breath.
“Aren’t we going back there to interrogate Kame-chan some more?” Yassan asked, nodding in the direction of the living room they had been keeping an eye on.
“No, I’ll take it from here.” Jin said, ignoring Yamapi’s warning look, but the others seemed to have more faith in him.
“Well, if anyone can open him up it’s you, right?” Yoko winked, clapping his shoulder. “We’ll give you some privacy.”
One by one the gangsters exited his apartment, Yamapi last.
Jin shut the door behind them, locking it before entering the living room again, where Kame still sat on the chair, chain around his wrist.
“I see you’ve gotten everything back up and running. Do you mind if I take a bath?” Kame asked and Jin had to smile. Kame wouldn’t stop testing his nerves.
“Go ahead.” he said, gesturing with his hand towards the bathroom.
Kame didn’t get up, gaze falling to his cuff.
“Oh, don’t worry.” Jin said. “It’s waterproof. Off you go.”
Knowing he wouldn’t be released Kame got up on his feet, strolling past him to the bathroom.
“Tell me if you need help washing some parts!” Jin shouted after him, but received no answer.
After blowing out the candles and turning off the flashlights Jin could finally throw himself onto the couch with a relieved sigh. He was exhausted, but finally he had Kame where he wanted him. Now all that was left was to get Kame to talk. He could do this for as long as it would take. Kame wasn’t going anywhere and would give in sooner or later once the stubborn boy realized his situation. No Kitagawa forces could storm in here to the rescue.
A few moments later he heard water pouring and by the sound of it the door was left ajar. Well, Kame naturally couldn’t have closed it with that chain in the way.
He laid his head back against the soft material of the couch, having to laugh for himself, as he wondered what it was that actually stopped him from going in there, but knew immediately that it was the way Kame had reacted in the dormitory apartment that time he had touched the boy. Even after that Kame was still playing with fire. Did it mean Kame trusted him, thinking he could taunt all he wanted but Jin would not hurt him?
The sound of bare footsteps against the floor drew his attention and he turned his head to see Kame exit the bathroom dressed in one of his shirts that was slightly bigger on the smaller boy. Jin wouldn’t allow Kame the pleasure of catching him looking more than once and he stubbornly turned his head away, peeking every now and then from the corner of his eyes as the boy approached him.
“The shower’s free.” Kame announced and Jin met his eyes, focusing on keeping his gaze on that level.
“Thank you.” he replied, standing up and ending up right in front of the smaller boy, who didn’t move away. “I’ll be just a moment then. Amuse yourself with something in the meantime, but don’t touch my weapons.”
Kame let him pass and Jin made sure to leave the door slightly ajar too, wondering if it affected Kame half as much as it had him. When Jin returned he found Kame going through the files they had been messing with earlier, probably to see if there was something missing.
Two beautiful dark brown eyes met his as he stopped near the boy, who was wearing glasses again. Kame packed all the files into his suitcase before putting them away.
“So, what are you going to do next? Sexually molest me?”
“The thought had come to me.” Jin admitted.
“Just like old times then.” Kame said, making himself comfortable on the couch and Jin had to look away for a moment to keep composed. “Though you could do something about this cuff…it’s not like I could run off anywhere while being in these blocks, now could I?”
Jin seated himself into his living room chair, throwing his feet onto the low table before him and picking something out of his pocket.
“Want this?” he asked, seeing the flash the key in his hand brought in Kame’s eyes. He swung the object in the air with a taunting smile, stuffing it back into one of the front pockets of his jeans then. “Come and get it.”
Judging by the look on Kame’s face the smaller boy had rather come and punch him, but Kame knew as well as he did that Kame would never win the key from him that way.
Getting up from the couch slowly, Kame snuck closer and Jin had to wonder if this had been such a great idea after all. He should’ve taken a colder shower, but it was too late now.
A hand trailed softly down his side, heading for the pocket, but didn’t have a chance to get the key, as Jin grabbed that hand in his. Kame smiled, not having expected such an easy victory, and flung one leg over to the other side of Jin’s hips, seating himself onto Jin’s lap and removing his glasses. Jin was captivated by the look in those eyes until Kame shut the distance between them by pressing lips on his.
Jin decided he had earned this after all the hell he had been through, enjoying himself and finding something familiar in the way the boy kissed. There was this longing in Kame’s kisses, the same kind he had tasted that night in Korea. Kame had missed him, he was sure. Right then he couldn’t imagine Kame not coming over to his side again.
In the midst of it all he hadn’t noticed how Kame’s hand had slipped down his side again and was making another try for his pocket. Jin smiled, breaking the kiss as he pulled fingertips out of his pocket.
“Nice try.” he praised.
Kame gave him a look that clearly stated how he wasn’t done yet and Jin had to admit that he forgot all about the key for a moment there as Kame leaned in to kiss his neck instead, brushing over several spots that made his body tingle. He grabbed a tight hold on the arms of the chair, feeling a sense of lust rush through him and he knew he wasn’t alone on that one.
Despite the bitter feelings he had for Jin, Kame couldn’t deny how much he wanted to put all of that aside right now and do something irresponsible like sleeping with Jin. His own body was betraying him. He had spent a year apart from Jin and although the simple thought of Jin had usually motivated him to study harder, the nights had unexpectedly been both unbearably long and lonely...
This time when he slipped his hand down Jin’s pocket, Jin let him take the key and Kame pulled away victoriously.
As their moment was clearly over, Jin got up from his seat, turning his back at Kame, who immediately tried the lock.
“It doesn’t fit…” Kame said and Jin grinned as he shot the boy a look over one shoulder.
“Probably not because it’s the key for my bike.” he replied and Kame stopped trying to get the lock open, throwing the key away and not looking so pleased anymore. “I guess size does matter after all.”
“Where’s the real key?” Kame asked and Jin chuckled.
“Yeah, where could it be...” he replied with a playful shrug. “You should’ve learned how to pick locks over the past year too, cutie.”
Kame glared after him as Jin left the room and the apartment. It was the only sane, responsible thing he could do at that moment. He needed something that could turn him off.
Peeking into their headquarters, he found Yamapi going over details to the case.
“Apparently the trial has been postponed until further notice.” Yamapi said, as the other leader noticed him. “Are you breaking him?”
“I’ll get to him.” Jin replied, forcing back a silly smile from his lips that still tasted like Kame’s.
“You better.” Yamapi warned.
“He is still the same boy I met in prison.” Jin said.
“Exactly.” Yamapi replied. “He is still that Kame-chan. Don’t you remember everything he did in there? He did all of that under you. You were his master yet you never controlled him.”
And Jin sure as hell wasn’t capable of controlling this Kame-chan with a backbone either.
“Drink?” Jin suggested and Yamapi met his eyes for a while.
“Some other time.” the News leader replied then, gathering his stuff before leaving.
It was no fun drinking alone, Jin knew that from experience, so he decided to head back to his apartment instead, as he had achieved his agenda in going out anyway.
The apartment was quiet as he entered it. Following the chain on the floor he found Kame in his bed. The boy’s eyes were closed and Kame looked quite comfy.
There was no way he was sleeping on the couch.
Slipping out of his extra clothes, Jin lifted on the large cover and lied down under it. Kame still didn’t open his eyes, but he could tell the smaller boy was awake, probably waiting to see what he would do, but all he could do for a long time was just lie there and stare at the face next to him. He was never going to go to sleep alone again. He was never going to watch Kame leave either and now he had the perfect reason to keep Kame here even against the boy’s will.
Positioning himself closer to Kame, Jin laid an arm over the warm body, pulling it into his.
“You’re one hell of a tease and you know it.” he muttered before closing his eyes, feeling Kame snuggle into him before falling asleep.
~*~*~*~
The next morning Jin actually found it enjoyable to wake up and face reality. As he opened his eyes the first thing he saw was Kame’s face, nuzzled into his shirt, and he experienced happiness again.
“I will not let Masa or Johnny or anyone separate us ever again.” he mumbled, voice hoarse from sleeping so long and peacefully throughout the entire night.
He kissed the boy on the top of his head, feeling Kame move then, stretching his body and slowly opening his eyes.
“Morning.” he said.
“Morning.” was the reply and to his delight Kame was in no hurry to move out of the position they were in.
“I could stay in bed all day.” Jin sighed happily and felt Kame smile.
“I bet.” the boy replied. “I remember your personal records of how long you’ve managed to stay in bed without stepping a foot out of it. I believe I’ve helped you set some of those records.”
“Wanna make a new one?” Jin suggested and Kame closed his eyes.
“Why not? It’s not like we have court today...” the boy replied, well aware of Masa’s moves even though Jin hadn’t informed Kame of the news, and the statement brought a smile to Jin’s face. It felt as if Kame was finally lowering his fences. The mood was really good now and who knows, it could even improve...
“I wish I could turn the clock back a year and have this be the reality then.” Jin said. Why had he wasted an entire year doing nothing?
Suddenly he felt Kame slip out from under his arm and sit up.
“I’m hungry. I’ll make us some breakfast.” the boy announced before leaving the bed.
The mood was suddenly less good and it wasn’t improving. Kame had his game face on all the time. The boy didn’t even have to say anything for Jin to see it was there.
Well, it wasn’t as if he had expected this to be easy. Whatever Kame was hiding the boy hid it for good reasons. It would take some effort to find out what it was, but once that problem was solved they could finally speak their minds and solve whatever more needed to be straightened out between them.
“What are you doing?” Kame asked, as he had been spending some time by the open front door, gluing something on its outside. The chain almost allowed Kame to reach the door, but not quite, and the boy was curiously peeking at him.
Jin showed a K-shaped piece in his one hand. “I figured I’m not going to be living alone from now on so the door should be re-marked.”
“That’s so stupid.” Kame commented, leaving the hallway as he had watched Jin glue the K next to the A. Kame sounded scornful, but the small smile on Kame’s lips told a different story.
Jin closed the door, locking it carefully before following Kame into the living room.
“It will leave a mark once you remove it.” Kame added, turning towards him.
“Then I’ll just be sure to keep you here and spare myself the paintjob.” Jin shot back.
“I’m not going to be your sex slave again, so you might as well give me a ride home instead.” Kame added, stepping closer. “It’s too long term for my taste, but if you want to have a one-night stand and then let me out of this chain I might just agree.”
Jin just smiled at him, highly doubting what Kame said to be true. Those words served a different purpose and he was going to show Kame who was in control of this situation they were in. “You can say whatever you want, but I’m not going to even try to take you before you to talk to me.”
“Well, there goes pumping me for information at least.” Kame shot back.
“You know how I feel about you.” Jin said and for some reason that made Kame’s expression change, arms folding themselves in front of his chest. “You know I can’t hurt you, but you also know how stubborn I am. You really aren’t going anywhere this time so you might as well give up and get used to long term. I’ve given up one-night stands.”
“We’ll see about that.” Kame replied, not in the mood to talk anymore, but Jin was just getting started and cut off Kame’s path before the boy could take as much as a step.
“You’ll come to see it my way. I don’t know why you’re forced to do this, but I will. You will tell me everything.” Jin said, running a hand through the blond locks. “You always have. That night too, you gave me everything.”
Kame moved his head away from his hand. “Everything but the truth.”
“You had no reason to go to bed with me that night. You did it because you wanted to. You were quite yourself again that night…mind telling me what triggered it?” Jin asked, looking rather smug. “Were you missing me before you had even left? Was that the reason you were so needy? Haven’t you been missing me now too?”
Kame just glared and Jin’s hand lowered to the chain, pulling on it and moving the boy closer to him.
“How about we just forget about what happened? I’m sure I made some stupid moves, but this wasn’t fair of you either.” Jin suggested, his free hand tilting Kame’s chin upwards towards his lips. “Let’s just lay all the cards on the table and reset.”
Kame let him come nearer, but before Jin could close the distance, the boy spoke, “You just don’t give up, do you?”
Jin pulled away a bit, knowing this was a clear rejection from Kame’s part. Kame wasn’t being playful anymore. Kame was frustrated with him again.
“I’m trying to save you!” Jin insisted, irritated at how Kame kept this distance between them and seemed mad at him for no reason. If Kame had a reason then he could just get it off his chest once and for all, so Jin would at least know why.
“Concentrate on saving yourself.” Kame added, yanking his chain loose before turning around and starting to walk, but didn’t make it far no wither as Jin stepped on the chain, making Kame halt abruptly.
“You’re a real pain in the ass.”
Kame gave him a knowing look. “You’re one to talk.”
“Do you have any idea how hard it was for me to let you leave that morning? How much it pained me to see you walk out while knowing there was nothing I could do about it?” Jin insisted, closing the distance between them quickly and grabbing Kame so hard it made the boy wince. “I thought we had finally overcome our problems that night and then the next morning when I wake up I go from heaven straight to hell! You never called, mailed or even wrote a freaking letter to me for a whole year!”
Kame refused to point out that neither had Jin.
“Now I’m not going to play anymore stupid games.” Jin continued. “You’re going to tell me what’s going on and exactly why you walked out on me and then we’ll fix this situation and finally I’ll pull you over a knee and spank you! You have one year of making up to do! If you prefer to stay in those chains for that time then fine by me, but you’re not leaving my side!”
He refused to add, ‘You’re mine.’
His grip was so painful by now Kame finally had to brush at his hands and Jin quite involuntarily released him, not really wanting to, and he kept the boy in front of him, not allowing him to take even one step backwards.
“Start talking.” Jin demanded and Kame sighed, that irritating mask covering his beautiful face again.
“I don’t know what you expect me to say.” the smaller boy said, massaging his arms that were probably bruised. “I told you why I left.”
Kame didn’t like the look in Jin’s eyes and he jumped as much as he could backwards when Jin grabbed him again, though thoughtfully not at the same place as before and not as hard either.
“Spanking it is then.” Jin concluded, tugging him along into the bedroom.
“Let go off me!” Kame shouted, resisting as much as he could.
“Never!” Jin replied as he pulled Kame over one knee.
He managed a few slaps before Kame kicked him, setting them both to tumble over on the bed, the chain getting caught around both of them. Jin managed to come out on top, trapping the smaller boy into the sheets by holding his wrists tightly. He could feel Kame’s unsteady breath against his lips.
“Why don’t you taunt me now?” Jin asked. “Lead me on and seduce me?”
Leaning his head down he kissed the boy forcefully, pulling back only when Kame bit his lower lip and he released one of Kame’s wrists to touch it, finding no traces of blood.
“Do you need encouragement to rape me?” Kame shot back at him as he had the chance.
Jin let go off Kame, untangling himself out of the chains before pushing himself up from the bed and leaving the room, slamming the door behind him.
He stormed into the bathroom to wash his face. He needed to calm down. If he didn’t get some space between them he might actually do something to Kame he’d later regret as the thought of tying Kame up and having his way with the boy occurred to him and kept playing in the back of his mind, but just one tear from Kame would probably stop him when it would already be too late. He never wanted to see Kame cry like that underneath him again.
Kame was doing this because Kame hated him. There was no other explanation he could find. That’s why it frustrated Kame to even look at him. The seducing was Masa’s doing. He had told Kame to do that.
Kame lied immobile on the bed where Jin had left him. His breathing was slowly becoming calmer. He had almost lost it. Those words were the only thing he could think of saying to get Jin to stop.
Having caught his breath again he managed to sit up.
He knew he shouldn’t give into guilt, but he found himself slowly rising from the bed and he opened the door. Hearing noise coming from the bathroom he stopped by its doorway, peeking in.
“I don’t know how things got so screwed up.” he confessed. “Maybe they were so from the beginning and that’s why.”
Jin watched him through the mirror. “I hope you have a really fucking good reason for all of this.”
The leader snatched the nearest towel, drying off his face with it before throwing it aside.
“I’m going out. Be a good boy and sit tight.” he announced, walking past Kame and disappearing out the door.
The fresh air felt good, clearing his mind a bit, but there was nothing that worked better than a drink. Though his usual drinking buddy wasn’t available, so Jin steered his feet onto a street barely outside their blocks, stopping in front of a store.
“Ah, welcome!” the man at the counter greeted him. “We’re just about to close, but-”
His brother fell quiet upon noticing the guest was him.
“Hey, Reio.” he greeted back and his brother turned his gaze back to the jewellery he had been packing into a box.
“Would you stop calling me that? You know it’s not Reio anymore.” his brother replied.
“Right, Fuuta.” Jin corrected himself. He knew the reason Reio changed his name was so he wouldn’t be associated with him anymore - a criminal.
“You’re here to see Shirota, aren’t you?” Reio guessed, calling for the man in question.
“Jin?” Shirota said, coming down the stairs from the small second floor in the store.
“I’ve had a really crappy day. Care for a beer?” Jin asked.
“Okay.” Shirota replied. “But why didn’t you call Yamapi out?”
“I don’t constantly hang out with him.” Jin defended himself. “Besides there’s something I need to talk with you about.”
“Fine, we’re closing soon anyway.” Shirota said, looking at the younger Akanishi next.
“Oh, don’t worry about the shop. I can close up.” Reio answered the unspoken question and Shirota turned back towards Jin again.
“Let’s go then.” the tallest one said and Jin shot his little brother one last look before walking out.
They headed straight back into the blocks and into the nearest bar, one where Jin was sure they wouldn’t bump into Yamapi.
“So, it’s about the one we weren’t allowed to name, isn’t it?” Shirota guessed as they had gotten themselves a beer each and sat down by a table. “You want me to investigate about Kame-chan?”
“He’s in trouble.” Jin said. “He won’t tell me why, but for some reason he’s working for Johnny and Masa.”
“I’ve already been keeping an eye on him for a year.” Shirota said and Jin shot him a surprised look. “I was surprised to see him back in Todai by the beginning of the school year when he was supposed to be in Korea with you guys. I very much doubted that Masa would let him attend school if he wasn’t gaining something from Kame-chan.”
“Did you find out what it is?” Jin asked as Shirota took a sip.
“No.” the taller man replied, putting down the glass. “He’s been avoiding me, acting differently than before. When I first met him he looked lost and there was something weighing heavily on his heart, but he was warm and funny. Now he’s distant, wearing a mask...”
“If he started the new school year on time then that means he went almost directly from Korea to school, so Masa couldn’t have possibly had the time to teach him much.” Jin concluded. “You’re a player. You must’ve seen him through! What was it that you saw when you met Kame again?”
Shirota didn’t really want to tell Jin this, but said anyway, “Pain.”
Jin hadn’t expected to hear that. Though he wasn’t really sure what he had expected to hear.
“He was heartbroken the first time I met him, but this time it looked as if someone had just smashed it in pieces.” Shirota said. “I heard about what he went through in Korea.”
Jin averted his eyes out the window.
“He wasn’t happy when he came back here. I don’t think I’ve seen him smile even once.” Shirota continued. “He sticks to himself and Masa’s men are constantly around him. They know me.” Shirota added and had to ask, what he didn’t want to ask, “Tell me he hasn’t been leaking information to those guys?”
“I’m afraid so.” Jin replied and Shirota sighed, leaning back into his seat.
“That would explain why Masa pardoned him and let him continue studying in Todai.” Shirota concluded. “I still couldn’t see him as someone, who had switched sides so I kept trying to approach him, but he’d always brush me off. I hate to admit it, but our relationship was never the same after he found out you and I are buddies. I think he just sees me as your friend now.”
Shirota met Jin’s eyes again. “I’ll keep trying and see what I can figure out.”
“Thanks, but it won’t be necessary.” Jin replied and Shirota gave him an inquiring look. “He’s at my place.”
“Really? Good for you.” Shirota said. “Um, is he there willingly or do you have someone keeping an eye on him?”
If Kame was as avoidant with Jin as with Shirota, then Jin shouldn’t leave the boy alone for a second.
“I have him chained to my bed.” Jin explained.
“Okay, perverted, but that’s you.” Shirota commented. “Looks like you’re getting somewhere.”
“Not really, he won’t talk with him unless it’s to either taunt me till I snap or insult me.” Jin replied.
“But he still wears your ring.” Shirota said then, wanting to find something more encouraging to mention. “I’ve never seen it off his finger.”
Jin trailed a finger over his own ring thoughtfully. “Let’s just hope it bears any of the meaning to him now that it used to-”
Suddenly the bar went completely dark.
“What happened?” Shirota asked, looking out. “The entire block is dark.”
“Shit.” Jin cursed, hurrying out the bar without an explanation and ran as fast as he could back towards the building he lived in.
He arrived just in time to see Kame swing one leg over his bike and turn the engine on.
“Kame!” he screamed at the top of his lungs and the boy shot him a look over one shoulder.
“I warned you.” the boy said, before taking off on his bike.
Other gangsters gathered onto the street, wondering about the noise and the sudden darkness again. Though some of them had a pretty good guess what was going on.
“Kame-chan!” TTUN shouted as they caught a glimpse of the quickly fading boy.
“Inform the borders!” Koki called.
“It will be too late. He’ll be long gone.” Ueda reasoned.
“How did he get loose from his chain?” Junno asked. “You didn’t set him free, did you?”
“Of course not!” Jin replied.
“Did he get the key?” Maru asked next.
“I have the key!” Jin said, picking it out of his pocket and pausing as he had a really awful thought. “Don’t tell me Masa actually taught him how to pick locks…”
“It would seem he’s better at it than you are.” Ueda remarked.
Jin almost crushed the key as he closed his hand into a painfully tight fist.
That slippery little...
Even if he pursued Kame now, he wouldn’t get to the boy before Johnny and Masa’s men did. Kame had obviously managed to contact Masa somehow and Jin’s guess was it was through the laptop he hadn’t been able to fix.
It would seem he’d have to go to sleep alone again after all.
