Awesome! Sounds like it will be a great trip :) Just make sure to be extremely careful about what you eat and drink so you don't get sick.

I will. And if I have any kind of problem, my doctor gave me a sort of travel pack of stuff I could take if I did get sick.

lol that's about as much planning as I've done for all the travel I've done in my life.

Well, see, there are going to be 7 people on the particular leg of the trip I was planning. Someone asked for packing tips, and I was obsessing over how to pack light anyway, so I replied with an email full of ideas. And we've been working with a travel agent, but I am a little weirded out by this guy, so I thought I'd suggest backup itineraries and just got really thorough with it because I was so excited I couldn't sleep. So that's why all the planning.

Dealing with travel agents is much more trouble than it's worth, I think. You're probably better off sorting it out all by yourself with Wikitravel and Google, plus anyone you know who's been.

How much more difficult is packing for girls? I can do mine in like an hour but I imagine its pretty easy for us.

I agree about the travel agents. I think it would be much simpler to visit two cities (including Agra, the location of the Taj Mahal), take trains between them, book everything online, and keep it simple like that. What we're looking at instead is a much more complicated itinerary, including a jeep safari. Which, if we end up doing that, I won't cry about it, but my preferred itinerary is simpler. But I thought if I wanted to convince my companions of that, I should present them with alternatives - hence the multiple itineraries ( ... )

I love how this stuff seems to come out of the blue on lj. I mean, I'm sure you've been talking about this with Todd for a while but this is the first I'm hearing of going to India. Also whoa! India in two weeks!

Also, regarding shampoo, I think it depends on how much you use each time you wash your hair/the frequency. I find a 3 oz bottle is really only enough to last me slightly more than a week. Tell your companions not to wash their hair everyday. Or to wash their hair only once each time. ;)

Lol, who washes their hair more than once per shower? I use a lump the diameter of a nickel, just once per shower, and that serves very well.

Yeah, we've been planning this for a while - an old friend of Todd's is getting married in India, and we've been having occasional meetings to discuss it for the past... I guess two or three months. But I haven't really talked about it much except in person and occasionally on gchat.

Lol, some people take the instructions on shampoo bottles to heart! If you're traveling with people that do, reassure them once is enough and they will have enough for two weeks. And if not they can always buy more. ;)

How funny. I always took those instructions as an exhortation to use as much of the product as possible so people would buy it more often, but then I'm paranoid like that. But it's true, we can probably find stuff to wash our hair with while over there. Plus, some people seem to have decided to take a communal checked bag, so maybe there will be a full bottle of shampoo in there that people can use.
