What is the issue with books? I'm assuming its the unavailability of trees/ soil. But then shouldn't Luna be doing her sketches on like... slate or something less valuable than paper?
Our comic styles are slowly converging :) I've been doing a lot of mixed coloring for my chapter as well. I love the lighting and coloring you've done here! Eventually I'll find a way for you to draw my comic for me and nobody will be able to tell the difference ...(I'm thinking kidnapping/ threats of bodily harm)
Their paper is made from a bamboo-like plant that they grow in large quantities on islands called Gardens (there's a future chapter focused on this, but I should probably do a post on it too XD). There's generally enough to meet demand. The reason books are so rare is because there's no printing press so copies have to be made by hand. There's also the Royal Library that likes to collect lost or unowned books. It's hard for average citizens to get a hold of or commission more than a couple.
The latest pages of The Meek really inspired me to kick my coloring up a notch. Thanks so much! Haha, I'd probably give up without a fight, no kidnapping/threats necessary XD
I was thinking 15th or 16th century in terms of technology, though I've left out some of the major inventions around that time, such as the printing press.
The thing about the cities is that the people believe they were given by gods, houses and all. There's no record in their history of these things ever being built. From an outsider's perspective, the people would appear to have been dropped right onto the islands from another time period.
Haha, I should stop myself there before I start getting into secret stuff :B
I was thinking this was early, yay for extra updates! And I guess the lack of books (especially if they were acquired by "questionable means") means that the ruling governments don't like the citizens self educating themselves? And don't worry Luna, I think your sailboat designs are just spiffy.
You've got it :D. However it's not so much the citizens educating themselves, but rather the specific subjects that they could educate themselves on which the government is wary of.
Oh, and I forgot to say that I love the additional drawings as well. I have no idea where you find the time to do all these drawings and color the main comic as well...
And here we thought he was talking about the sail design thing she came up with. XD
Nothing wrong with reading in the tub, unless you get the pages wet or drop your ereader in the water by accident (that happened ot my Gameboy. i'm surprised it still worked, after it dried out!).

Haha, I'd be too afraid of ruining a book to take it anywhere near water XD.
