Margaret,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY. (I believe today -- Jan four -- is your birthday.)

Congratulations on all your acceptances.

Perhaps it is stupid of me to ask, but have you considered "Fantasy & Science" fiction for any (or all) of the stories that have received personalized rejections from "Asimov's"?

I ask about "F & SF" in particular in part because I was college friends (and am now Facebook friends) with the editor in chief there. But also because it's perhaps the second most prestigious SF magazine in the U.S., after "Asimov's." (I'm almost certain said editor of "F & SF" would say I have that precisely backward.)

Anyway, I wish you many more acceptances in the coming year, including at least a few that come as joyous surprises to you.

- Kevin

That should have read "Fantasy & Science Fiction," with "fiction" as part of the title.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Kevin!

It's funny you should mention F&SF: my latest rejection from Asimov's, a novella that received high praise in the rejection process, has been earmarked for F&SF for a week and a half (pending the acquisition of a new ink cartridge, since they have no online submissions system). I grew up with Asimov's, Analog, and F&SF, so they're all top choices in my opinion. Such a small world, though, that you'd be acquainted on so personal a level with the EIC!

All the best, and Happy New Year!
