Notes: Done for writerverse, where we had to write a story, but not title it.
A creased corner, a colourful stamp, smudged blue ink, and an address proclaiming the destination he was last in.
Marilee's eyes linger on the last line of his postcard.
I love you.
She swipes under her eyes to catch any lingering tears, before she places the postcard back into the box sitting on her kitchen table.
Inside in the box are numerous postcards, and letters from him. Marilee clutches the postcard in her hand, as her eyes land on the letter delivered to her by uniformed officers a few moments prior.
She forces herself to read the letter. Marilee knew what the contents contained, and ignoring the steady flow of tears that trickled down her cheeks, she let the contents of the letter sink in.
We regret to inform you that Corporal Ethan Hall was killed in action on 20 June 2011 …
