Rory had been working in a corner store/deli, but what he really wants to do is teach music lessons, so he's been working on getting that set up here.
The museum is part of the university, and they have very strict rules about training. Since the education department makes a lot of materials/props for programs and tours, I guess they decided they had to do a training about glue guns. *shrugs* It took five minutes, so it wasn't too bad.
OK so he's doing things that aren't too difficult of a switch from one state to another. :)
5 minute training on glue guns sounds legit! I was thinking it'd be an hour or so, which I would find ridiculous. Different rules because it's through a uni makes sense.
Congratulations on the job! It does sound perfect for you, and I'm glad it worked out.
I can understand having mixed feelings about moving back to your hometown, though. When I started thinking about buying a house, I also considered moving back home and buying a house there, since my job is portable so long as I have an internet connection. It was a lot to consider--a lot of pros and cons either way--but ultimately, I have no regrets on what I decided.
I'm sorry to hear about the friction with the in-laws, although I can well imagine why they wouldn't necessarily be thrilled about the idea of you two moving so far away, even though it's a homecoming for you. I hope peace has been restored; being at outs with family is the worst.
I definitely do have mixed feelings, and it's weird to be back here, but overall I think I'm adjusting pretty well. There's always pros and cons, but so far I think I made the right choice.
I wouldn't say things are resolved with the in-laws, but they've settled down a little. I totally understand them not being happy about us moving so far away, but we weren't asking them to be happy about it, just to respect our decision. (And it was OUR decision, it was definitely made jointly.) It's going to take a while to heal, especially for Rory. But life goes on.
Thanks. :) So far the job is good. I'm planning my first big event at the end of September, and it's exciting and terrifying. I still can't believe they're trusting ME to do this.
Oh my GOD. Life is NUTS. I am so surprised that you ended up back at your old town! Lots of love to you, I'm so glad you got a job and are having adventures (even super weird ones). xx
Wow, congratulations on getting a job so fast! I only just now read your post here and my mind is going like "Huh? But....? How, when....?". I'm almost thinking it would would take me more time to blink. :-P
Living through all the events I wrote about was a bit like being on a roller coaster. Just one thing after another, and I never knew what was happening. But it seems to have settled down a little, so that's good.
Could be better. Making progress, I suppose, but very slowly. Being a bit disorganized, including replying to replies such as this one in a timely manner.
I switched to another internship thingie a few weeks ago. The old one wasn't working out. Still have some mixed feelings about the new one. Will try to post something about it on my own journal soon. (Although that will probably take me a month or so. ;-) )

What does Rory do that allowed him to move across the country? Because it's so great he was able to do that too.
*hugs* Glad to hear things are going well. But you need to be certified in how to use a hot glue gun?!?! What the....??? *confused*

Yeah, I never imagined I'd be living two blocks from my old high school. Life goes in unexpected directions. But it's going well so far. :)
