I think I know what you mean. I write poetry, and some years ago I made some poetry by using words and structure of other poems. I don't do that anymore, I think there's something wrong with that. That is, I don't think it's completely wrong, if you add a disclaimer to the work that mentions how you made it from other poems ( ... )

Thanks for your thoughtful comment and I'm very glad that you respond to the paintings, that they show you no malice. I feel a pull to paint children, which is why I have painted so many portraits of children. And it is refreshing to paint a child's open, bright and innocent face. But I also want to be free to go in various directions. Not that I want to be a very dark painter because I don't think that's my style, but I can see painting something with a psychological tension to it. Right now I see myself as an intermediate beginner. I'm still not sure what I'm doing or what exactly I want to say, but I don't want to give up on it.
