I like the simple goodness of these pictures. The young boy on the second picture looks so utterly bright.

Did you paint these paintings from fantasy, or from real people?

I'm very glad you like these portraits. I was commissioned to paint the portrait of the man and the boy by a good online friend of mine. The adults and children in these paintings are members of her family. I painted both from photographs that I was allowed to see on Facebook. I rarely paint from fantasy. I'm not good enough yet. I love the way you described these painting--"the simple goodness"--I really appreciate that.
