Requiem for Republicans/ precursor to LotR

I've been getting some classical today. In particular, I've been listening to various online versions of Mozart's "Requiem". The Europa Philharmonic is terribly slow (the Kyrie movement, which sounds normal at 2:30 or so, is 4:14). It ruins the rythm, imho. I found a "german" version linked by wikipedia, it is much better alhtough still slow. ( Read more... )

I could be wrong, but "Europa Philharmonic" doesn't sound like a "quality name". It sounds suspiciously like a "telephone orchestra" (=one not consisting of steady members which are playing together on a daily basis, but consisting of random musicians recruited for one particular project).

*after a little google search*: I haven't found any website or any other relevant entries about "Europa Philharmonic").

Thank you for the Torrent! Too bad I can't find out who's singing and who's playing - or is that information listed somewhere I didn't look?

In the torrent name, it claims it's the Solti version, which can be found on Amazon here.

And, btw, do you really think the Republican demise is worth the requiem??

The requiem is a sarcastic response, really, since the Republicans are certainly not fit for something as good as the Requiem upon their demise.
