I actually didn't fall for Gwen's argument regarding Arthur not talking to Tyr. She was never the type to let people rot in Dungeons when they could have done something different - why now?

Actually, I think Gwen killing Tyr in cold blood is a sign of her being enchanted. It just doesn't fit her at all.

That scene between Merlin and Gawain was such a great setting for later and THEY DIDN'T USE IT, oh my god, I'm still angry...
THANK YOU for thinking the same thing about it. Because really, the lack of Knights in this part is just ridiculous.

That actually knocked the episode down some notches for me... though it was pretty great.

Yeah, I was definitely diappointed that we didn't have Gwaine leaping to Merlin's defence. It just seemed that it would be appropriate at the moment.

Writing this as I'm reading, so, I'm trying to guess from Misha's face your reaction to this episode. :P

Arthur forgot and had to be reminded twice of, by his wife and by Gwen.
For a moment I thought that was a typo. Silly me! Always love the digs at The Romance and you excel at it.

Aww, I like Tyr. I really liked this little scene between him and Merlin.
Yes! He is one of those characters that I desperately hope to somehow make it through, even if he was stamped victim from the start. Nice boy.

“Grief changes people, Merlin.” Ping!
Laughed at this. Really, Merlin is the last person you should say it to, Gaius. :P

I love Morgana/Gwen scene to. Same as you, I wasn't into their friendship at the start but in this episode, their scene was good. I love how Morgana went "Gwen, Gwen!" Like they're friends all over again, not just puppet/master.

You want it quick, Morgana! Dear lord, does she learn nothing? The title is called ‘A Lesson in Vengance’. The first rule of vengeance is not to not get emotional about it. My God that's ( ... )

Is it me, or with the window and the poison, it's all a little Romeo and Juliet?
Probably not just you since Tanous also mentioned it. :P

I sometimes critisise the show fro the lack of Merlin’s magic, but actually that makes this scene all the better, where he does use it, and for powerful effect.
Yes now that you've said it, it's true that in some way the lack of magic casting before does contribute to something good, like this scene. It would've been atrocious if Merlin had successfully healed people in the past and suddenly had problems healing Arthur, or if not, still would have taken any powerful effect from the scene away. I love that he gave all he had here. Well done, both Merlin and Colin.

I think they are in moments this season pushing the two sides of the same coin thing a little more. I saw it in episode five quite strongly and I see it again here.Nicely put. I really think the AM relationship is strong this year, but while scenes from the past 6 eps also suggest trust, dependency, two side same coin and all things we ( ... )

Ha ha! Even when we disagree, tanous and I always seem to see some things the same way!

"The lack of stress here is both good for AM and for us."
Yeah, that was a sort of a breather moment there wasn't it. The trheat wasn't gone, but they could both be relieved that the other one was still there when they woke up.

I would definitely agree with you that this episode did have a few random and illogical things, and things which have yet to be explained. Like you said, it didn't detract from my viewing though.

"Okay, last thing. Why is Misha there? :P"I don't think there ever needs to be a reason for Misha to be anywhere ;) :P ( ... )

Me? Dig at The Romance? How very dare you!! I'll have you know that my heart flutters when they are on screen together. It's practically Hepburn and Tracey reincarnated ;)

Yeah I liked the Gwen/Morgana scenes and I didn't expect too. I think Morgana is genuinely happy to have someone to talk to.

Ah see, I love references or repeats of past things. In this case I really liked the fact that Gwen was going the same way as Morgana did. I like the inevitability of it. Especially in a show which does discuss fate and destiny a lot. It kinda reminds me of that 'Whack a Mole' game. You hit one down, but another one just pops up. Merlin keeps destroying these threats against Arthur, but new ones keep appearing, often in the same way. I feel like he's just beginning to realise that there isn't a whole lot he can do about it, just try to control it by keep on hitting them down.

DON'T QUESTION!
They evidently have no answers.

In addition to all those questions, there's the fun one that got completely ignored; What did Arthur think of Gwen sitting there when he went unconscious? Does he think she was drugged too? I don't get it. Doesn't he remember having dinner with her at all?

I suppose the others will get hand waved off as "Stress and concern leading to poor judgement which could happen to The Best of Us Gwen" and the other will just be one of many times Arthur doesnt remember the important bits because of his induced unconsciousness.

Yeah, I'll admitt, even I'm worried when looking at the season as a whole. I think me just taking each episode at a time is a bit like sticking my head in the sand, however I did enjoy it and I can't ask too much more than that.

Yeah, that was my main niggle. That Gwen went 'Merlin did it' and everyone went 'That sounds completely plausible'. It would have been easier enough for them to have given one or two of the Knights a few doubting comments.

Your review made me laugh out loud.

LAWS OF CAMELOT
Any Crime = Death

True. And why has Arthur not got around to changing any of these draconian laws in five years?

I enjoyed this episode quite a lot.

Thank you so much!

Arthur is much too busy going on 'hunting' trips and 'poetry' sessions with his servant to slave away changing silly little laws that lead to people being sent to their painful and wrongly accused death.

WOO

Lots of Evil Gwen appreciation this episode XD

But am I the only one wondering if Arthur remembers he was drugged mid-dinner with Gwen? And then poisoned, presumably after he lost consciousness... with Gwen there?
Does he not remember that at all? What happened there?
What does he think happened to Gwen after he journeyed to the land of dreams?

Also Any Crime = Death... so true. We haven't even seen any normal petty thievery, have we? Do they only bother with the Punishable by Death crimes? XD

I think Arthur looses conciousness so often that he just doesn't question it too much anymore. I think he just shrugs it off.
