College Board Lament

Oh College Board, what we lost today was so beautiful, so special, so rare. I trusted you, I respected you, I thought you would never disappoint me. You treated me well until today, College Board, and for that, I loved you. You asked me questions, simple and clear, and I filled in the corresponding ovals, and analyzed the rhetorical strategies ( Read more... )

Isn't it illegal to be discussing this?

Besides, the third essay was way harder.

Even if the College Board DOES check livejournals to be sure people wait 48 hours to discuss the essays, it doesn't matter for me, I have no hope now anyway. It's the rest of you who are screwed. :) That means you, Mr. Benhaim. No score for you!

Nooo, I'm sure you did fine... at least better than a 1. :) There's hope for you. And I thought the 1st one was fine... it was at the second one that I pretty much stopped collecting any points whatsoever.

Actually, I believe there is hope for all of us. Jaxx, let's say you did well enough on the multiple choice to get a raw score of 40-45 (certainly probable, this means you got maybe two questions wrong per passage), then you only need a total raw score of about 18 on the essays to get a 5 on the test. So, supposing you got a 7 (slightly better than adequate) on the first and third essay, and a 4 (considerably less than adequate) on the second, you still will get a 5 on the test. Even if you got a measly 2 on the second essay, you would only need 8's on the first and third essays, and it sounds like you are pretty smug about essays. Indeed, there is a good chance you still got a 5, and if not, you are pretty much guaranteed a 4. Nice work!

Wow... thanks. Maybe you're right... maybe I can still end up with a 4 or whatever. That'd be nice. Oh, and I'm not smug, just... generally optimistic... about essays. :)
