I don't usually do a lot of friends-only posts, but I've been going through some things that, unfortunately, I really couldn't share with the outside world. Until today--so now it can be told.
Since Jamie and I have split up, I've been living with my mom. I've had to rely on going to the library to get online--and it may be early February before I can get my own computer again. I still have my trusty HP Pavillion, which has served me well since December '01. However, it's too slow to run Vista at an optimum level.
I should have had a computer at home now--except for a stunt Jamie decided to pull.
I actually had to call 911 to get an officer to arrest my soon-to-be-ex stepson on the day after Labor Day. That same day, I'd found out that before I was able to shut off my check card (I discovered late on the night I left that Jamie still had it), she had the nerve to charge almost $150 worth of stuff on Amazon, along with buying a full Limewire membership--throwing my account negative. Fortunately, the bank put the money back on.
But then that Saturday morning, I was getting ready to go out and go computer-hunting when a couple of cops knocked on the door. It turned out that on the same day that Kristoffer was arrested, Jamie and my niece
claimed that I hit my niece with an electrical cord, made her watch X-rated movies, and gave her a bit of a beating (though not nearly as savage as the one my niece gave me). They also said I threatened to beat her up if she told anyone about it. This supposedly went on for a month and a half until Jamie threw me out of the house on the day after Labor Day.
As ridiculous as this sounds, apparently somebody thought there was no way Kristina could make this story up, and I was arrested on charges of assault on a female, communicating threats and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. I spent over 5 hours downtown, but got out on pretrial release.
There are so many holes in this story it's almost laughable. For one thing, they claim they threw me out at 7:55 pm on the 5th--when I was not only at work, but on the clock. There is no way, no how, I could have been over there without a) leaving work while I was on the clock or b) being totally AWOL from work--both completely ludicrous possibilities. It takes 20-30 minutes to get there from that apartment on I-77, and even longer during rush hour. That's anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour round trip (and even more given Charlotte's rush hour). Even that doesn't count how much time I supposedly spent there if this BS story is true. In the time frame I was supposedly there, someone at work would have noticed me missing--especially since there are cameras set up along every inch of that warehouse.
Also, it seems pretty odd that Jamie just "happened" to find this out on the same day her baby boy was arrested--only six hours after he was arrested, to be exact. There is no way, no how, that Jamie could possibly explain this exceptional timing under oath.
The thing that really bothers me about this whole thing is that a mother of four kids who is supposedly a Spirit-filled Christian would even consider getting a 15-year-old girl to lie under oath. Moreover, they were risking a crapload of trouble themselves. They not only faced charges of filing a false police report, but if I'm reading NC law correctly, they could face charges of perjury and subornation of perjury. Swearing out a warrant for someone's arrest based on false charges seems to fit the definition of perjury. Not to mention the fact that my niece would never see her mother again.
Well, I went to trial on Halloween--and they didn't show up. My guess is they were banking on me pleading guilty or no contest. In either case, under NC law I would have had to pay a whopping fine, in addition to restitution. I also would have faced almost a year in jail. Strangely, the police had been at that apartment six times to serve a subpoena. However, it got continued until today. The only defensible reason I can think of for why this dragged out this long is because there's a child involved. Also, since perjury and subornation of perjury are very serious crimes, it seems in hindsight that the judge couldn't in good conscience throw it out without having Jamie and my niece explain themselves.
Today came--and they still didn't show up. And this time it was thrown out. So I'm a free man again. Add it up--I was in limbo for over three months! How harrowing has this been? I was afraid to even go to my church because I was told that I was not under ANY circumstances to have contact with that girl. But after they didn't show up and it appeared they were incommunicado, I went back there the first week of November. The ones I've told about what happened where shocked that Jamie would do something so awful. But the thing that burns my bacon is that she showed up at Thanksgiving dinner asking about me--and didn't have the guts to have anyone tell me that she was sorry! Fortunately, they've just about washed their hands of her.
It's been 10 years since I left the Wrong-Waymaker chamber of horrors--but I have to say that Jamie is even worse than those four girls who tried to frame me up for sexual harassment. At least they had the guts to go after me themselves. It's bad enough that Jamie used a proxy to go after me. But of all people, she had to use a 15-year-old girl. How depraved can you get? I know I made my fair share of screwups in our marriage--not the least of which was not making more of an effort to get on dayshift so I could spend more time at home. But to frame me up for a heinous crime--one where you're guilty until proven innocent--and then to effectively deny me the support of some of the people I needed the most? Now that's depraved, brother.
At least this long nightmare is over--now I can get on with putting my life back together.
