A few weeks ago I found a pattern for a relatively easy sweater vest. I had been wanting to make one for years, so I bought some yarn and started in on it. I took my knitting all over the place. To work, to friends' houses, to beer fests. I had a conversation with a Sooner fan yesterday at said beer fest while I was knitting and he chided me for making a sweater vest. "Nobody outside of Ohio wears sweater vests, you know?" Good thing I live in Ohio!
Given my beginner knowledge of knitting, I didn't know most of what was in this pattern, even though it was labeled as "easy". I spent a lot of time looking up videos on how to do a certain stitch on YouTube and looking up acronym meanings, but I figured it out.
I finished knitting it yesterday and seamed it today!
Please forgive my sour face. I can never figure out what to look like when taking pictures of myself.
It's a bit short. So I either need to re-block it so it's about 1" long or wear it with high-waisted pants or skirts so it doesn't look so short. It's also not the most flattering sweater vest I've ever worn, which makes me sad. But I still like it.

Things I will change for next time:
Add about 2" to the length.
Knit it in a lighter weight yarn or on smaller needles. This is a bit bulky and not very flattering on my shape.
Increase the neck hole by about 10 stitches. It fits over my head, but just barely.
My first ever knitted garment. Done and done!
