I read a few interesting articles on aerobic training about a month ago, and realized that I had never understood why it was worthwhile. It seemed like aerobic training really didn't help much other than endurance, which wasn't something I was hugely worried about. I'm no expert on these things, but I remember Tomcat used to have a similar problem. If we walked fast his body would think he was going running, and he'd have a high heart rate and respiratory rate. Your body definitely adapts to what you do, and I can see how it'd be good to get more efficient at heart rates that cause less wear and tear. :)

Alas, I haven't thought about these things any more deeply than that. But if you need someone to take a fast walk with, I like to walk and there are bike trails near my place...
