Superman II: The Donner Cut!
I just got done watching the Donner cut of Superman II. Wow, what a much, much, MUCH better movie it is. Not perfect, but vastly improved.
Gone:
The Paris sequence that sets up the villains' escape. The lame-ass "finger laser beam" the villains use. The annoying kid with the English accent. The "S" that Superman tears off his costume during the battle in the Fortress of Solitude. The "magic kiss" that causes Lois Lane to forget Clark = Superman.
There were two things that bothered me, though:
Where's Miss Teschmacher? Unless I missed something, she sort of disappeared. The "turning back the Earth" plot device is used again. Didn't like it in the first movie, don't like it in this version. But it is a hell of a lot better than that "magic kiss."
I had thought about getting the new reissue of the original cut, but I don't think I will. As far as I'm concerned, this is the true sequel.
