The family tithes $1,300 a month at their church. Their mortgage, second mortgage and payment on land they bought is nearly $4,000 a month. Other expenses, including their family car payment, insurance and college funds, as well as basics like food, utilities and donations to charities, leave them with about $1,200 left over each month.
Wow, that really must suck for them.
How can anyone give $1300 per month to their church, and then bitch about marginally higher tax rates?
I would LOVE to have $1200 left over after paying all my bills and contributing to a college fund for Bean each month, as well as a retirement fund and making payments on a nice piece of land. Clearly, we should be taxing them much more than what Obama is proposing.
omfg. These people need to be hit with a cluestick. Or any kind of stick, really.
Now he is making just above $250,000.
I think there's also a deliberate deception in this article. People earning "just over $250,000" are not going to get hit with a higher tax on any of their income under that $250,000. If this guy makes "just above $250,000" then his taxes are not likely to change much at all. E.g., if he makes $260,000, then he's going to be paying a little bit more on the last $10,000 of income. The first $250,000 is taxed at the lower rate.
There's this misconception that if you're "just over the line" you suddenly end up paying a higher rate on your entire income. That's JUST NOT TRUE, but articles like this play alll over it.
As for the ridiculous $1,300 tithing per month and then whining about not having money, I just... have no words.
Many, many people do not get the concept of tax brackets, which is why you get all these annoying "sympathy for the poor little rich people" articles around this time of year.
And they have only $1,200 left over every month. I weep.
It sounds like all their necessities are met and they have $1,200 left over every month--what are they complaining about? Many people have to live on they amount of money they have left over to play with every month. I really find it impossible to feel sorry for these people.
I like the part about the optometrist now making $250k, but talking about when he only made $50k while coping with his $150k in student loans. Um, honey, I have an equal student loan debt and I'm making less than that while living in NYC. Cry me a fucking river. And as a vet, I don't see myself ever making $250k.
