I often see these kids whose parents seem obvlious to their child's disrespectful behavior. My girlfriend and I went to see "Avatar" over Christmas break and it was a wonderful movie. The only part of the experience I didn't enjoy was the 2-3 young teenagers, maybe 12-13 years old (I didn't turn around to look at them for fear), who kept talking through the movie and making rude comments about what was happening onscreen. I don't remember anything specific, but I remember turning to my girlfriend at the end of the movie and saying somewhat loudly "that was great except for those f*cking rude kids sitting behind us." I said it loud enough so the kids could hear and I think their parents were sitting right next to them the entire time. Like you said, I was afraid to turn around and ask them to be quiet for fear that they would react in a confrontational manner as most young people seem to when a strang adult calls them on their rude behavior.
