I can be a real git sometimes.
More than a week ago, I went to school to help Mrs. Patrocinio with the layout and editing. We worked the whole afternoon, and finally, she asked me how we would distribute the copies to the seniors (as they've already received their report cards). I tried to avoid answering the question, but she persisted, so I just said "I don't know." She then suggested that the senior staffers could distribute the copies to their respective sections. I cut her off, and told her that it would be better if the copies were released with the yearbook, because, 'Anyway, they wouldn't bother reading the Blue Heights, they don't care about it at all.' But I acquiesced to her suggestion afterwards, because I wanted to work properly.
I must have forgotten what I said during the Holy Week, because it didn't bother me. I felt completely normal this morning, when we distributed the papers. And, doing my duty, I reluctantly texted my classmates about the release. I was touched and surprised by the way they responded, however. I had not finished sending my group message to everyone in the class yet (I was still on the D surnames, and yes, my cellphone contacts are alphabetized that way) when seven of my classmates congratulated me and said they were already excited to see the paper. After texting everyone, several other people responded, and even asked me why I entrusted most of the papers to a friend and classmate. Guiltily I told them I wouldn't attend our class swimming outing on the 18th, so I'd leave them the papers. Those who, like me, wouldn't go to the outing, asked if they could see me to get their copies.
I can't believe I thought that way--that my classmates wouldn't care about the paper. Even those from the other sections greeted me. I guess I'm just so grateful. :)
To everyone, my apologies for the many typos and the double-spacing of some articles.
To Sheana, my Associate Editor (
shanx_07), thank you for making the release possible. If it weren't for you, no one would have worked for the paper's editing and layouting.
To my editors, I won't remember the night (and morning) that we worked very hard for this issue.
To my staffers, thank you for the contributions.
For the whole Blue Heights, congratulations.
And to those who showed their appreciation to the BH, my utmost gratitude.
Going personal, and important errata:
Our Sports Editor's name is Ma. Bianca D. Perez, not Bianca Marie. The real coverage of the issue is from October 2006, not November (see the news on BH press conferences...). That's Hamille's hand on the front page. I think Aby's picture is prettiest in the opinion section (look at mine, wtf). Pages 12 and 13 are NOT Special Feature but Literary. Most criticisms on the general appearance of the paper should not be pointed at the editorial board but the printing press. Typos are natural occurrences in this world.
Copies for the alumnae (except Batch 2007) can be claimed from the office. First come, first serve. (That was not my idea. It's just that only thirty more copies were left for extras.) But for those who asked me to reserve the first issue, your copies are still with me, don't worry. :)
