Playgroup - Circus Time.

With the cold weather we haven't gone out much either. Needless to say, we are stir crazy.

So this week the theme is "circuses". This is a theme that could go either way in my books ( Read more... )

You should share some of your discussion to help other parents out (like me!). One day I will have to explain why we can't go see the circus with all the animals in it while his other friends do. But maybe it won't be an issue for him. We'll see when the time comes.

When my children were little, I went through this kind of thing - albeit on entirely different subjects - a lot. That part about why some people think it's okay is especially hard to explain. (Thankfully, objecting to the circus is not quite as loaded a topic as objecting to celebrating holidays or pledging your allegiance to a flag when you're dealing with other families.) I'll be curious to hear how you approached it.

Yeah, I have issues with some holidays (particularly the over-commercialized and religious ones, though they are often one and the same these days) as well swearing allegiance to a flag or person. Thankfully, those haven't come up yet (much).

Hopefully the circus will not be an issue tomorrow... we will see!
