Doug and I have been watching TWW again. We just can't stay away. It's chock full of truth and heart and humanity what with the quality of the storylines and writing and acting.
Scrubs can get me through a down cycle. It can lift me up.
Buffy! I have been meaning to watch Buffy for years, but I've never seen it. Really? It's the show to watch when "I want it all"? Explain! Talk me into it.
I think Doug and I should watch Arrested Development together ...
Doug's comfort TV would be TWW or Homicide: Life on the Streets.
OK. It's getting bumped way the heck up on my Netflix queue. Did you watch Alias? Because I always feel like that show delivered many of those things, too ...
Don't laugh: Classic sitcoms are my comfort food. Everything from "Leave It to Beaver," "I Love Lucy" and "Andy Griffith" through "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "Gilligan's Island" (did I mention I used to be a Professor/Mary Ann shipper?) to "3rd Rock" and "Seinfeld." I didn't watch "Everybody Loves Raymond" when it was in production, but I've gotten into it recently because TBS tends to air the reruns during my treadmill time at the gym.
Meat and potatoes: "House." And occasionally the various "Law & Order" shows (particularly "SVU").
I love "South Park," but I think of it as neither comfort food nor meat and potatoes: more like pub grub.
And the reality shows I watch -- "Toddlers & Tiaras," "Little Miss Perfect," "What Not to Wear" -- are the guilty pleasures: the TV equivalent of a clandestine pint of Ben & Jerry's.
Alright, my dessert is definitely Psych. That show can put me in a good mood NO MATTER how crappy I feel. James Roday and Dule Hill have amazing chemistry on screen, their timing is infallable and everything is actually realistic. It's a formulaic show that doesn't feel formulaic, and thus, will keep my attention for as long as it is on

Will and Grace is a standby, though I don't watch it very regularly now. It's light and funny somehow without being totally off the wall. And the recurring theme is that even if your love life's a mess it doesn't mean you aren't loved by someone, even if it's not the kind of love you think you're looking for. How could that not be comforting? That's like my potato chips
