That movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. Parodies of 80's kitschy culture are never not hilarious. And Hugh Grant has such great comedic timing and delivery. Also, the music is catchy. Terrible, but catchy. lol
I don't feel guilty about how much I love it! But it is certainly a pleasure. I agree with everything you said, and would add to it that I thought Grant and Barrymore had really good chemistry.
Yeah, at some point I may have to go out and buy all of my favorite Hugh Grant movies, because there are many. I bought "About a Boy" two years ago and it is certainly worth re-watching too!
It's a lovely little rom com. Kristen is fab in that supporting role. So is Jim Belushi. And Campbell Scott again playing an asshole and doing it so well.
Doug and I saw this in the theatre and I thought they were going to have to carry me out during that scene. The actor Scott Porter, who went on to Friday Night Lights and is now on The Good Wife played the second half of the music duo. It's funny to me b/c Porter was in his early 20s, I think, and Grant ... wasn't.
About the meme. I have no idea if it has requirements or themes. My friend started posting a cap a day and I wanted to do it, too. You could make your own themes/requirements though. I have none. It's completely random as to which film I feel I want to sort of share with everyone, a film that meant something to me, ripped me apart, was cinematically compelling, or featured an unforgettable character.

My favorite part is probably the 80s music video
