A couple of weeks ago, my grandmother mentioned to me that she was getting new carpet and she asked if I wanted her old area carpets. They were still in great condition, but grandma has this thing about being able to see footprints in the carpet...makes her crazy. We'd been talking about replacing our carpet for a long time, it REALLY needed it

Absolutely agree. When I pulled up the carpet in my house (because it smelled overwhelmingly like dog) and saw all the moldy crud that had accumulated under it, I threw them all out and either put down vinyl tile or left the wood floors bare. Using a broom and mop is much easier than hassling a vacuum cleaner. Cloth is for clothes, not floors.
