What drives me crazy is that they call it a mosque. No one is trying to build a mosque at Ground Zero. They are trying to build an Islamic community center near ground zero. One element of this community center is that it will contain a mosque. It will also provide some terrific services for the Islamic community in Manhattan, such as childcare, recreational and educational programs, etc. But the Haters like to skip that part and focus on what they see as the most controversial. Ridiculous.
That being said, I can see how people who were directly affected by the 9/11 tragedy can see the building of a mosque there as a slap in the face, if they believe that all Islamic people hate us as much as the Al Qaeda and the other Jihad-driven, militant muslims who danced in the streets as our towers fell do. But it doesn't change the legality of it.

Since when did religion and state mix?
What bothers me is that the white male old fuddy duddys (yes us Canadians can swear!) are being racist and don't want to admit it.
My grandmother told me never to discuss sex, politics, & religion in a mixed group....we are not mixed up here...the politicians are!
