So, is this the first step towards a life of being a world-traveler?

That is the plan. My sis and I want to do Europe and maybe New Zealand next summer when both of us graduate and I take the Bar. oy veh. That'll be my last free time for a while until I wrack up enough vacation time. :) You should travel once you finish your masters and before the PhD.

Well, I hope there will be some time between finishing my masters and getting a PhD instead of only an infinite amount of time after finishing my masters.

But anyway, I come up with lots of excuses in my mind for not traveling - like being focused on getting stuff done to get into a PhD program, feeling like $ should go to paying off student loans instead of traveling, etc. What do you make of that?

Well, the stuff to get into a PhD program is hopefully done before you travel so you can relax on your trip. :) When are those deadlines? As for student loans...I'm of the mindset that they'll get paid off eventually with whatever job one gets after school, so I'm not really worried about them. (And I don't plan at working at one of the huge firms with the insane salaries.) I can't stress enough that this is the only time in your life where you don't have things tying you down like kids, permanent job, etc., so I'm looking at it as a small window of opportunity of which I have to take advantage.
