So apparently they're not yet a good enough team not to completely forget how to play hockey after a three-day break.

Also, newly-acquired Dick Tarnstrom, ostensibly acquired to fill the puck-moving, power play specialist d-man void, is a healthy scratch. Wouldn't want to break up that potent Russell-Tollefsen pair, now would we.

tarnstrom is a career -60 or something like that. not able to get into any lineup for more than 40 games a year. four teams in six years.

they traded a bag of pucks for a few shin pads.

they're getting dismantled tonight. i guess no one can pick of the slack of federov and modin, they have their best line up against nash, zherdev and peca - the rest of the team is crap.

He did lead a dreadful, dreadful pre-Crosby Penguins team in scoring several years ago (looking it up, he actually played 80 games that year and no fewer than 55 any other year), which is probably more indicative of the rest of that team than of his offensive skill. I'm keeping an open mind, though. He's a free agent at the end of the year, so he'll just be a rental if he doesn't work out.

Where's Deron Quint when you need him?

I thought I had read something about him having to clear immigration before joining the team, but I 1)was too busy doing non-hockey things to research it further, and 2)assumed that he would have had to actually join the team before being included on the roster, and therefore subject to a scratch, hence my assuming he was with the team but not in the lineup. And if they mentioned it on either the TV or radio pre-games, well, I didn't catch either of them.
