Work/School

After a few months of work (ultimately learning that college teaches you how to think, rather than what you actually will use on the job), I'm doubting (a little) my decision to go start working, rather than get a Masters or higher degree ( Read more... )

Transitions are always difficult. Early on after I moved down here, I used to lament about how few people kept in touch / responded to me when I contacted them (though many wished me well when I went). But, well, you've got to come to terms with that. People move on, spread out, and each follow their own paths.

I, for one, do miss school, and have experienced a touch of envy at talking with the people who are diving into more school and learning right away. The whole environment is one I enjoy. Admittedly, it also lets me be really lazy. Anyway, it's not my path right now, and I have no actual reason to go back, so... I don't think too much on it ( ... )

Yeah, I learned about the whole people move on, follow their own paths, etc. thing after high school...but I didn't have many good friends in high school. Right now, I keep in touch with 2-4 people (and 2 of 'em were in a higher grade). I think one difficulty is that there were so many changes all at once for me, and I'm still adjusting ( ... )

I hear ya, Michelle.
At this age, people are at allll stages of life (some are still at home with parents, some are married with children and full time jobs, some are at school!) It's hard not to envy people going on the other paths. At least there's always the *option* of more school. You can always go learn more! I think it's us intelligent folks' mentality, to always want to learn. I think in it's most casual form people fall back upon "book clubs", where people come to the library and talk about what they read together, lol. I can see college professors having personalities very similar to us as well...they get to *live* in that learning environment, teach it and create it! Though I don't know how easy it would be to get into that either.
And at least you have the financial security to let yourself move on to more education, if your will takes you there someday.

Godspeed!

Hey I still want to come visit too! =P
But my work schedule sucks! I think one of my Sundays off, I will have to take a Cleveland day trip.
