pomp, circumstance and the aftermath.

So, this past Saturday I kind of graduated from college.

I don't remember why it was suggested I pose by the high voltage sign with my coca cola, but then again, why not?

The rare brother-creature makes an appearance.

The first thing everyone says about my dad when they meet him is that he looks very smart. I think it's the beard.

My mom thought I was making fun of her with my facial expression. I insisted that I simply always look like an asshat when I smile.

The Bailey family in a state of confusion.

Real Baileys smile with their eyes closed.

And then Nina and I broke out into spontaneous jazz-hands.

While my mom mastered some new technology.

Then came the actual ceremony, in which I managed to walk across the stage in heels without tripping on my face, or anyone else's face.

At UC Santa Cruz, you get a sunflower, not a diploma. Because sunflowers are so much more real, man.

So then we went to dinner and drank champagne, and I had an embarassment of cake and could not finish it all, and the next morning we woke up early and packed my entire life into a storage unit. It took forever. And now I'm back in the north bay for a few days. So what's a recent graduate of literature to do with herself on the first free Monday morning of her adult life?

Play with her father's digital camera!

Because everyone loves pictures of dogs wearing crowns!

Get a job? Sure, I'll get right on that.

Tomorrow. Tomorrow I will get a job.

I now leave you with a gratuitously adorable shot of my dog holding a walrus in his mouth.

Goodnight.
