Book recommendation

When I was at university I read an enormous amount of historical romances, perhaps as a way of balancing the sometimes really dry tomes that I had to read.  I must admit that most of them were rather bad, with characters so incoherent that they seemed brainless and totally predictable plots.Some of these novel however stuck out as their quality

I've just found out that Christianna Brandt is a renowned writer of mystery classics,

Yes indeed, Green for Danger was even made into a classic film.

I've read a bit about her now and she seems very interesting, perhaps I'll try to read some of her mysteries when I have a bit of time.
