RP Log Rahal and Chrodechild

Sep 17, 2009 15:56

Who: Rahal (bluelamphinian) and Chrodechile (nightsveilqueen)
Where: the stables
When: todayish?
Summary: Rahal has promised to teach Chrodechild to ride, and he's making good on that
Notes/Warnings: None that I can think of

Once again Rahal found himself checking the beasts he'd chosen for the day's lesson with Chrodechild. He tugged at girths and checked stirrup straps and the martingale on his own mount. Granted Rahal could not be considered an equestrian expert, but part of their training at Gordius included building balance and rudimentary riding skill via actual horses, so he figured he could at least instruct Chrodechild in this much. After all, riding a dragon horse was not unlike riding an equine, at least to the point of riding in a saddle. There the similarities ended on more counts than he cared to number, but the basics were as necessary as the expert skill any dragon rider garnered over his years of training and service. If Chrodechild wanted further instruction, he figured she would have to go to Kathy or perhaps one of the knights at the castle.

He stood back and and surveyed the actual beasts. While not acquainted with every animal in the stables, he did know those that were passive and those that were entirely to aggressive - not that Kathy tended to keep the more aggressive ones long, he found. At any rate he chose a calm dapple with small sparks of foolishness in it for himself and a placid bay for Chrodechild. Both stared at him with woefully brown eyes, as if asking how he could possibly put them to work so, but years of being with Flail made him immune to their liquid depths.

"Don't give me that look," he chided his dapple, who went by the name Cloud.

The horse merely snorted and jangled its tack with a whole body shudder, accented by a nonchalant flick of its tail that nearly smacked Rahal in the face. He sighed and patted the animal's flank, looking towards the entrance to the stable grounds. Chrodechild, with her bright blonde hair, was terribly hard to miss after all.
