the bad news: my flash drive went for a swim in the washer and then a ride in the dryer.

the good news: this baby still works!  AMAZING!

lesson learned: check ALL the pockets of my blue jeans before putting them to wash!

what is a flash drive?

i don't know too much about computers, but i'll try to explain as best i can. a flash drive is an electronic portable storage unit. i can save all my WORD, EXCEL and PowerPoint documents on it instead of saving them to a floppy disk or the hard drive. once saved on the flash drive, i can open up the saved documents on any computer that has a "port". a port is similar to the "floppy drive"; you insert the flash drive in the port and can access all the files saved on there. the flash drive i have is equivalent to holding as much information as 200+ floppy disks (or so i've been told).

i panicked because i have ALL the research papers and projects i've ever written since i started my masters degree saved on the flash drive. i thought i had lost ALL my files! but thank goodness, i didn't! the flash drive held up to the water and heat!
