Honduras was interesting. It was the only time I had ever been to a place that was a third world country, so in some ways it was really sad. I was in Roatan, which is an island, and the island itself was really beautiful. There was mountains, and trees, and flowers, and crystal clear water, and all that, which was just wonderful, but at the same time, there were houses falling apart and unpaved streets and people who clearly had no money. There was a huge fence to keep the islanders away from the cruise ship dock, which made me feel like I was in some sort of military state, but once you went through the gate, you were attacked from all sides by people selling things and wanting to help you out in hopes of a tip. I had one kid who kind of adopted me, I guess, and took me all over the town, showing me the shops (which the owners never let him into). The poverty was horribly sad - I felt like I ought to spend all my money there, as those people so obviously needed it more than me - but the island itself was one of the prettiest
