Seven things I want to do when I quit Starbucks.

1. Take the whole urn of Bold Coffee Bastard's bold coffee out side and pour it on top of his car. (We brew him his own special 1/2 batch of bold coffee in the evenings because he is so special and will call our DM if we don't snap to it imedeatly also he doesn't like the way the 1/4 tastes so we waste 1/2 a lb of coffee on his single grande cup ( Read more... )

1) You make it sound like they are taking this wasted coffee out of your paycheck. Just make the coffee and smile at this guy. I bet he does this mostly because it pisses you off so much. Take that part away from him, it is the only thing you can control
2) I like the no foam caps because the give me a free extra shot. That's just being a smart customer. You have pint about the light fraps with extra whip cream. But is that any worse then a Big Mac, fries, and a Diet Coke?
3) ....OK.....
4) I think they do that to me already
5) You should be handing these out to your good customers regularly and tell them why you are doing it.
6) Your parents didn't raise you like that
7) yeah, those frappuchinos are tools of the devil

my advise, don't take this job so personally. It does not define you. It is just where are now, there so much more ahead for you

1. We encourage customers to behave baddly by caving to their every whim. What is the point of having any kind of rules when we break them simply because a customer is an ass hole? Shouldn't the rules be: give the customer what they want at whatever price they want, since that's what they do anyway. And inadvertantly it does come out of my pay check. When we waste our money and product we are not as profitable, they then restrict our hours and I don't get as much time to work, and when I do work we are understaffed and more customers are pissed off because they aren't getting what they want imedeatly. Oh, I smile, I smile and think of ruining his paint job. I think I would smile a lot when I pour out his coffee and tell him to go be a jackass someplace else ( ... )

1) You're kidding yourself if you thing that profit will go to you. Coporate America see you are a resource to expend just like real estate or an espresso machine. Any profit will go to the stock holders and the executives. You're salary will be whatever the market will bear, just like the coffee you sell.
2)You're right, other people are stupid that's my point. people have such bizarre ideas about food. I just heard someone on TV carping that a banana has as much sugar as two slices of bread, and a glass of OJ has the same calories as a coke. What the idiots fail to perceive is the added nutritional value of the banana and the OJ.
3)would I?
5)too bad, I think Starbucks is having a management crisis, If I were a stockholder I would sell. I could see it being bought up by a bigger company, like McDs or coca cola in the future. But they have lost touch with what they are and can't get it back.
6)hmmmm

You are right it is hard not to take it personally. It takes practice and it helps to have an outlet and friends to talk to.

Also, you should come work at our Starbucks. A minimum of store drama. And few annoying customers. Also, the manager stands up for us like none other.
