part 3~
Taecyeon doesn't fail to notice that Jaebeom's Korean is improving. He no longer stutters over words and phrases, and Taecyeon can tell that he sometimes even thinks in Korean now, although he still has the slight accent. Taecyeon smiles when Jaebeom says something complicated that only a person raised to speak Korean could say, and smiles when Jaebeom makes little mistakes in English because of his excess use of Korean. Taecyeon watches as letters and words roll off Jaebeom's tongue like he was born to speak like that and listens as Jaebeom talks and laughs.
And when Jaebeom would question whether or not Taecyeon had even heard a single word he just said, Taecyeon would simply smile with all his teeth, and then Jaebeom couldn't even remember what he was saying before.

Taecyeon thinks he's in love.
But only sometimes. Other times, he thinks he's plain stupid to ever think in the first place that he's in love with Jaebeom. Those times mainly happen when Jaebeom does something ridiculous, like wear red skin-tight women's pajamas underneath his regular clothes (it was a dare, Jaebeom couldn't back down), or when he revealed that he had a file on his computer named "Seduce Jessica" (Taecyeon knew Jessica, and he also knew Jaebeom, and so he knew this was complete bullshit), or when he claimed that he had been given seventy gigs of porn (Taecyeon could tell by his voice that he was lying, Jaebeom could never keep a straight face with Taecyeon).
But most of the time, Taecyeon thinks that he's in love with a completely ridiculous and stupid man named Jaebeom.

It's 1:59 and Taecyeon is walking to the bus stop as usual, but he stops in his tracks when he sees Jaebeom already sitting on the bench. His stomach drops because something must be wrong, otherwise Jaebeom wouldn't be there early. Taecyeon quickly closes the gap between them and warps his arms around Jaebeom's small frame.
"I-I'm leaving," he mutters and Taecyeon can hear the tears in his voice, can see the tears on his face, and can taste the tears on his tongue.
"What? No, you can't. Don't leave," Taecyeon mutters softly, caressing Jaebeom's back.
"I-I don't have a choice, Taecyeon. I have to leave."
"You always have a choice, you don't have to do this."
"But I do!" he chokes, "I have to leave."
And with that said, Jaebeom stands suddenly, startling Taecyeon as he picks up his backpack. He slings it on and runs his lips across Taecyeon's cheek before lighting grazing his lips with his teeth.
It's when Taecyeon can no longer feel Jaebeom touching him that he realizes his eyes were closed. He opens them just in time to see a bus with Jaebeom sitting in the back driving away off.

It's been one month, and Taecyeon doesn't pretend to not notice that his watch has stopped at 1:59. He doesn't pretend to not notice that his watched stopped at 1:59 the day Jaebeom left. He doesn't pretend to not notice that his whole world has stopped at 1:59, and it won't ever be 2:00 again until Jaebeom comes back.
***
It's been over three months and Taecyeon also doesn't pretend to notice that the stars have started to go missing.
It was gradual at first, Taecyeon noticed that a particular star he liked to wish on (ever since Jaebeom left, Taecyeon hasn't been able to sleep, and so he resorts to wishing on 11:11 and stars) was simply gone. He looked everywhere for it, but it was no where to be seen. And so he found a different star to wish on. The next day, that star would be gone, and the process would start all over again.
The brightest stars were gone first.
Now, Taecyeon has counted one-hundred-something stars missing for the one-hundred-something days that Jaebeom's has been gone.

Taecyeon is walking aimlessly down the street (as he has many times now, for lack of anything better to do) when he is startled by an older man talking to him.
"Excuse me, what time is it now?"
Taecyeon looks at his watch, more out of habit than anything else. He knows his watch has stopped. He knows it can't ever possibly be-
"2:00," Taecyeon whispers it himself, unable to believe it.
"Excuse me, sir? I said what time is it now?" the other man asks again, annoyance plain in his voice.
"It's 2PM," Taecyeon grins, and runs past the bewildered man, runs to half way across town and doesn't stop running until he gets to the bus stop.
The bus stop is empty this time of day, with no buses passing by this route at this time. But there is a lone man sitting on the bench of the bus stop with a backpack by his feet.
Taecyeon doubles over next to the man, trying to catch his breath while simultaneously trying to yell at the man. However, much to Taecyeon's disappointment, he isn't able to get much out except for incoherent words and choked breaths.
It's only when Taecyeon feels a hand on his cheek that he looks up into Jaebeom's face with that it-took-you-long-enough-to-get-here smile on. Taecyeon rolls his eyes, and Jaebeom laughs and Taecyeon feels like his heart is about to burst out of his chest.
"What time is it now?" Jaebeom laughs, pulling Taecyeon onto the bench next to him.
Taecyeon doesn't answer, only grumbles something unintelligible and shrugs Jaebeom's hand off his shoulder.
"It's time for change, it's time for a new star to shine," Taecyeon shivers as Jaebeom's words tickle his ear.
"What time is it now?" The words form themselves on Taecyeon's lips before he can even think, and he's quietly asking before he even knows what's going on, and he already has the answer before it's even given.
"It's 2PM."
