I went to see Harry Potter with Andrew and Bryan today and Bryan said when one of his friend first read this paticular Harry Potter book (the day after it had been released) he wrote the major spoiler at the end of the book on the hood of his car and drove around town. Wow. People get way into their Potterstuff.

Yeah, my oldest younger brother (Andrew) called me right after the movie and whined all the way home about that very topic. We went a few days after the movie opened in hopes that all the crazies would have gone already, but there were still a few stray crazies talking to characters onscreen and sobbing when the movie ended. Oh well. At least no one brought wands.

That's actually kind of surprising. Were there people dressed up like the characters? When I lived in Knoxville, every time one of the books or movies was released, there'd be news crews at the theater or bookstore, with kids (and adults) dressed up like the characters and whatnot. I just never quite figured it all out.

They probably dressed up for the midnight showing- but I didn't see so much as a lightning bolt drawn onto some kid's forehead at our showing. Once when one of the books was released my brothers dressed up like characters from Lord of the Rings (kind of- they wore towel "capes" and shorts and went barefoot) and filmed themselves crashing a Harry Potter party at Barnes and Noble. I can't remember what happened much except Andrew kept going up to groups of people and dancing a jig.
