You might also try thinking about what the house represents. Could it be there was something left undone with the grandparents who lived there? Or is it a more metaphorical 'house' that you have to search to find what you need? Perhaps it is not what's in the house but what isn't there that's the important factor.

I had a recurring dream about a house, too. Almost the same scenario as yours, except something awful happened to me in that house years ago and I am terrified as I wander through the rooms. I stop at a doorway and watch as the door opens, knowing something horrible is about to come out of it, and I'm going to have to face it again. I don't really have much trouble deciphering that one!

My other recurring dream is about being chased by the Terminator. Seems my subconscious is not big on subtlety.

I used to have a recurring dream that involved James Bond, so yep, I get the whole saving the world bit. It always made me LOL.
