So, I have a new porch kitty. S/he is a small black kitty with a few little white markings. Unfortunately s/he is just as feral as my other porch kitty (who I haven't seen in a while, but hope is OK.) Maybe if you left other food out for them (table scraps like fruit/veggie leftovers, cheap cat/dog food) she'd leave your bird feeders alone.

I feel you pain about spilt seed and a critter gorging itself. I don't have raccoon problems (the dogs discourage them from coming too close), but there's a couple of squirrels who are very nervy and will get in the feeders regardless of the dogs.

I do have cat food. I'm feeding the feral kitties on the front porch, and I always leave scraps out from dinner. There's plenty for them to eat besides my bird seeds.

I actually baffled her by changing feeders. :-) I changed to one that is sort of like the wire/mesh type, which has a screw-on lid. If she can figure that one out, then she can have it.

I was flashing the camera IN her eyes and she just looked at me like I was irritating her. The cats? I come within 20 feet of them and they're off like a shot.

Oh...and elder Porch Kitty was back tonight. I don't know where he goes when he disappears. I wonder if he's cheating with someone else's porch.

I would've probably been much more amused, had she not awakened me from a dead sleep, thinking my house was under attack!

I know you know, but racoons are MEAN!! I don't know if I'd let it hang out much or encourage it. Herbie's parents had a family of them that broken into their attic and hung out for a while. They can do some damage. lol

Have you seen that Allstate Insurance commercial that begins "I'm a raccoon.."? It's one of my favorites.

I know, I know...they can be mean. But she has baaaaaabieeeesssss! :-/
