A Gift For All Saints Day

Nov 01, 2008 17:56

Greetings Everyone,

Yes, I know it's been a while, and no, I'm not really going to offer any explanations. But, since today is All Saints Day, I thought I'd leave you all a gift...

"The therapist came out of the water, dripping, shivering. He was easy in his publicly naked body, the breadth of his shoulders and chest, his long legs, his penis. The woman wanted to run from him. She wanted to run down the beach away from him, away from me. Summerville. Ojai. Santa Barbara. And on. Healthier. Berkeley. Santa Cruz. Away away.

Instead she held out a towel and wrapped him in it as she would her own children from the bath, and wrapped him in her arms.

This isn't what really happened. It's what she wishes. That's what stories are for, right? A message to the people you have known - this is what I wish I could have been."

Quakeland by Francesca Lia Block, page 158

It's a beautiful story, and one I highly recommend.

Let's make the upcoming year one where our stories come true and we don't have to write them anymore, but we become what we always wished we could.

Ta,
Blue
